Mads Mikkelsen Talks About ‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ and How It Will Be Different
The “Star Wars” franchise will be debuting the first anthology series film, “Star Wars: Rogue One,” which will debut several brand new characters into the “Star Wars” universe, and will not center around the main characters of the franchise, which means that other actors and actresses, such as “Hannibal’s” Mads Mikkelsen, will have a shot at making “Star Wars” history. Recently, Mikkelsen, in an interview, talked about the challenges of stepping into the legendary franchise. Read on to learn more about Mads Mikkelsen and his own “Star Wars” journey.
“Star Wars: Rogue One”, which will premiere next year, will be the first ever film in an anthology series that doesn’t surround the beloved “Star Wars” characters that everyone loves.
The film, which stars Donnie Yen, Felicity Jones, Alan Tudyk, Diego Luna, Riz Ahmed, Jiang Wen, Ben Mendelsohn and Mads Mikkelsen, tells the story of several rebels who come together in order to get the plans of the Death Star for the Rebellion.
Given the fact that Mikkelsen is known for portraying villain roles, many have speculated that his character would be a villain, however, the actor himself, according to an interview done with him earlier this year with Ekstra Bladet, has said that contrary to popular belief, he will not be playing a villain.
Recently, IGN sat down with the actor, and got the scoop on how it feels to be part of a legendary franchise, and how this film will be different from what fans and viewers expect to come out of the “Star Wars” universe.
According to the actor, one would be correct to assume that this film will be a little bit different from the other “Star Wars” movies, especially as it based on the pictures and first look images, seems to be a little darker in color and in tone.
Mikkelsen attributes this as director Gareth Edwards’ “personal touch” to the film, but reassures that it is very much part of and rooted in the “Star Wars” universe.
He also mentioned that all of the actors in the movie are very much aware that they are originating some characters within the universe, which makes it quite surreal, but at the same time, at the end of the day, they, as actors, work on their scenes and characters as they are supposed to. However, there is still that sense of amazement that they are part of a legendary universe that many can only dream of being part of.
Aside from this, Mikkelsen has played a villain on a James Bond film, and will be part of the upcoming MARVEL “Doctor Strange” film.
