Maroon 5 Tops U.S. Album Chart with ‘V’

Maroon 5 does it again, as the band claims its second chart topper album last week with their newest compilation entitled “V.” Read on to find out more.

According to Variety, Maroon 5 pulls it off again with their fifth album, “V,”selling 164,000 copies on its first week as per the Nielsen SoundScan data for the Sept. 7, 2014 weekend. Previously, the group topped the charts with their 2007 album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long,” while the 2010 “Hands All Over” and 2012 “Overexposed” climbed up to the no. 2 spot.


Maroon 5 front Adam Levine earlier appeared as special guest on “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Tonight!” on Comedy Central to promote the band’s new album, which host Jon Stewart asked if it was 5 or the letter V, to which Levine jokingly responded, “I don’t really even know anymore.”

Jeezy’s “Seen It All: The Autobiography” peaks at no. 2 with 121,000 sold copies. Others who made it at the week’s top 10 include: at no. 3, “Guardians of the Galaxy’s” soundtrack “Guardians of the Galaxy: Awesome Mix Vol. 1,” selling 53,000 which is up by 10 percent; at no. 4, Ariana Grande’s “My Everything,” which sold 42,000, off at 75 percent; at no. 5, Bob Marley & the Wailers’ 30-year-old hits collection, “Legend,” which sold 41,000 copies gaining 1,166 percent sales gain with its 99-cent induced sale at Google Play store; at no. 6 Counting Crows’ “Somewhere Under Wonderland,” with 36,000 copies; at no. 7 Disney’s “Frozen” soundtrack, with 30,000 copies, which is up by 11 percent; at no. 8, Sam Smith’s “In the Lonely Hour” with 30,000 copies, which is down by 4 percent; at no. 9, the “Now 51” hits compilation, with 28,000 copies, up by 10 percent; and at no. 10 is Wiz Khalifa’s “Blacc Hollywood,” with 20,000 copies, down by 34 percent.

Maroon 5 will appear as musical guest on Oct. 4, 2014 for the second episode of Saturday Night Live’s (SNL) 40th season, where SNL veteran, Sarah Silverman, debuts as host. The band has also an upcoming tour called “Maroon 5 2015 World Tour,” which was announced last Sept. 2, 2014 — the same day “V” was released.
