‘The Martian’ Roars At Box Office: Open’s With Collection Of $55 Million On Weekend
The sci-fi Matt Damon starer “The Martian” gained a massive opening over the weekend. The critically acclaimed flick opened with the collection of $55 million in its debut. The space adventure landed very close to “Gravity” which grossed $55.8 million in 2013 during the opening. Read on to find out more about “The Martian” box-office collection.
The Ridley Scott directorial is adapted from novel “The Martian” (2011) written by Andy Weir. It depicts the story of an astronaut who is accidently left behind on the red planet and his tale of survival. Damon has played the best of his roles in his career in “The Martian” and has received accolades from critics and audiences as well, as stated by Fortune.
BoxOffice.com Chief Analyst Phil Contrino stated that “the sci-fi is a wonderful combination of suspense, action, emotion and drama. It is definitely going to make people talk about it.”
The movie has a tremendous potential to retain in the memory of audience. The flick has beautifully explored the struggle of survival and willingness of an astronaut to get back home and his repeated efforts despite of failures.
The movies released along with “The Martian” are “The Walk” based on the biopic of artist Philippe Petit and “Sicario” a contemporary drug way thriller. Well, none of them could get close to the roaring success of Matt Damon starer “The Martian.”
