Marvel VP Teases An Animated Marvel Cinematic Universe

At the Marvel Animation panel at the latest WonderCon, Cort Lane, the VP of Animation Development and Production under Marvel, teased fans of the possibility of having an animated Marvel Cinematic Universe. Read on to learn more about this scoop.

Imagine seeing the “Avengers,” cast of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and “Ultimate Spider-Man” all in one animated film. Looks pretty cool, right? In the recent WonderCon, Marvel’s VP of Animation Development and Production Cort Lane hinted of the possibility of an animated Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.

“I can’t announce anything, but things are in the works,” Lane’s reply to a fan who asked about the animated MCU, wrote Newsarama.

Lane’s answer was short, but MCU fans immediately speculated that Lane’s statement was a somewhat confirmation that the animation team are currently working on doing an animated MCU.

Fans began speculating over which network Marvel will decide to release its animated MCU: Will it be a new superhero cartoon series on TV or will it be a full-fledged movie?

Some fans also wondered if the animated version will introduce lesser-known characters as a way of making the MCU family bigger and more known to the public. Games Radar noted that the “Guardians of the Galaxy” quickly grew from becoming unknown to becoming a household name after its release in 2014.

While the animated Marvel Cinematic Universe is still “in the works,” Marvel already has its hands full with brand new shows tied-up with Netflix. The “Daredevil” series is set to premiere on Friday, April 17. The series will then be followed by “Jessica Jones,” “Luke Cage,” “Iron Fist,” and “The Defenders.”

In another news, Lane also said that the kid Avengers will not be in “Avengers Disassembled.” WonderCon audience were also treated with a short clip from “Guardians of the Galaxy,” which showed the origins of the Guardians before coming as a team.

According to Newsarama, the clip also showed a young Star-Lord who has just boarded the alien ship after being abducted. The origin between Rocket and Groot’s relationship was also shown, which took place in an experimental facility.
