MARVELous Updates in MARVEL’s Television Universe

It is definitely a good time to be a comic book fan, especially if one is a big fan of MARVEL comics. Aside from the premiere of the film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and the upcoming comic book event of the year, “Secret Wars”, fans will be happy to learn that the MARVEL television universe will be further expanding as the official website of MARVEL has just announced that the Netflix television series “Daredevil” will be getting a second season. As if that wasn’t enough, an exclusive report on Deadline has reported that spin-off of “MARVEL’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is currently being developed. Read on to learn more about this story.

According to the announcement on the official website of MARVEL, “Daredevil”, the company’s first collaboration with Netflix, will be getting a second season.

The first season, in which all of the thirteen episodes were released in one go, premiered on April 10, 2015 at 12:01 AM. It starred Charlie Cox as Daredevil/Matthew “Matt” Murdock; Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson; Deborah Ann Woll as Matt’s love interest, Karen Page; Vondie Hall-Curtis as reporter Ben Urich; Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin or Wilson Fisk, Daredevil’s arch-nemesis; Toby Leonard Moore as Wesley; Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple; Bob Gunton as Leland “The Owl” Owlsely; and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna.

The first season highlighted Matt’s journey as a young hero in the making, which pitted him against the worst of the worst of the underworld of Hell’s Kitchen, while trying to make a living as lawyer with his partner, Foggy Nelson. However, not everyone from the first season will be returning, as one of the showrunners for the first season, Steven S. DeKnight, will not be coming back due to prior commitments. For the second season, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie, who collaborated closely with DeKnight and Drew Goddard for the first season, will be the new showrunners, while Jeph Loeb, Drew Goddard, Marco Ramirez and Doug Petrie will be the second season’s executive producers.

Aside from this, Deadline reported in an exclusive report that a spin-off of “MARVEL’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” is currently in the works. As to who will be starring in it, it was reported that Adrienne Palicki, who plays Agent Bobbi Morse and Nick Blood, who portrays her ex-husband, Lance Hunter, are currently undergoing negotiations to star in the show.

The new spin-off is supposedly set to air beside it’s mother show, and its story line would be set up by events that happened during the current season of the show.

It hasn’t been green lit yet, as a pilot is currently in development. The spin-off’s script is being written by Jeffrey Bell and Paul Zbyszewski, who are also developing the spin-off.
