MARVEL’s Agent Carter Recap: Bridge and Tunnel
“MARVEL’s Agent Carter” Season 1 Episode 2 “Bridge and Tunnel” aired last Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on ABC. In this episode, Strategic Scientific Reserve Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) raced against Strategic Scientific Reserve Chief Dooley (Shea Whigham) and Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) and the man in the Green Suit (James Landry Hebert). She did it in order to locate Leet Brannis (James Frain) and the Daisy Clover Dairy Truck full of Howard Stark’s (Dominic Cooper) Nitramene, with the help of Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy). Meanwhile, Peggy looked for a new apartment. It was because she tried to avoid detection by SSR, especially as they might just have evidence of her involvement in Raymond Spider’s (Andre Royo) death. Read on to learn more about this episode.
Strategic Scientific Reserve Agent Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell) asked her friend, diner waitress and aspiring Broadway actress Angie Martinelli (Lindsy Fonseca) to turn down the radio. It was airing a radio drama about Captain America’s adventures that had a nurse who kept on waiting to be rescued by the Captain. For her, it was not realistic at all, as she had been together with Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) before he was lost to them. Angie, who noticed that Peggy was looking for a new apartment, suggested that she stay the apartment across the hall from her. The girl there had just moved out, and because they would be in a safe part of the neighborhood. However, Peggy didn’t think it was a good idea. She left as Edwin Jarvis (James D’Arcy) had come to pick her up because Howard Stark (Dominic Cooper) insisted that she stay at one of his residences. She then agreed to stay “only for one night.” They then both informed each other that each of their researchers had ended in dead ends. Jarvis could not find anything about “Leviathan” in Stark’s files. Peggy informed Jarvis that the two men, that they had encountered who had no voice boxes, weren’t on file in any hospital in the United States or in New York. She then refused Jarvis’ help and decided to track down the Daisy Clover Dairy Truck on her own.
Meanwhile, at the shady hotel, the man in the Green Suit (James Landry Hebert) was instructed to locate Leet Brannis (James Frain), who had the Nitramene. He then paid a visit to a man whom he killed, alongside his wife, after the name Gino De Lucia was given to him.
The next day, early in the morning, Peggy, dressed up as a city health inspector inspected the trucks with her VitaRay Callibrator, and turned up nothing. She then got the address of the driver of the missing truck, named Sheldon McFee. It was probably the truck used to transport the Nitramene.
Meanwhile, in the garage of SSR, Chief Dooley (Shea Whigham) instructed Agent Ray Krzeminski (Kyle Bornheimer) to “tear apart” what was left of Roxxon Oil Refinery. It had been “squashed into half”, while he and Agent Jack Thompson (Chad Michael Murray) went over to Roxxon to talk to Mr. Hugh Jones (Ray Wise), Roxxon’s owner. Dooley then informed them that he suspected that Stark had something to do with it.
Upstairs, Peggy became alarmed after learning that Agent Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) had photographic evidence. In an envelope of the blonde that had been spotted at La Martinique the night that Spider Raymond (Andre Royo) had been killed. However, he locked the envelope in his drawer. Kzreminski told him to go down and help him sift through the evidence from the Roxxon blast. Peggy then called Jarvis and told him to “dispose of” the car and to leave behind no trace of it. She also informed him that she had located the driver of the truck and that they would go to him in New Jersey later that day. She then tried to pick the lock on Sousa’s drawer, but was unable to as he had come back right away. He then gave her the telephone as the chief had asked for her.
At Roxxon, Peggy was informed that she was to help them search the women workers for VitaRay radiation. The Chief insisted that it would be “inappropriate” if Thompson did so. However, before doing so, Peggy checked herself in the bathroom and got rid of her watch, as it had emitted large amounts of VitaRay radiation.
While they did this, Peggy was surprised to see that Mr. Van Ert (James Urbaniak) did not show any signs of VitaRay radiation. It was even if she had doused him in it the night before. After she suggested that they check the worker’s clothes in the locker room, Van Ert ran. However, she was able to stop him before Thompson did after swinging a briefcase at him.
Back at SSR headquarters, Peggy was given the “night off.” The chief claimed that ladies such as herself should not see prisoners being tortured. Before Jarvis picked her up at L & L, Angie insisted once again that Peggy should live near her. However, she told her that she probably wouldn’t make the “best neighbor.”
A little bit later on, while Peggy and Jarvis were on their way to Sheldon McFee’s place in New Jersey. Both Thompson and the man in the Green Suit started to head towards New Jersey, as they had discovered Sheldon McFee.
At Sheldon McFee’s house in New Jersey, Peggy insisted that Jarvis go home to his wife. She was planning on driving the dairy truck back to New York. She then fought with McFee and handcuffed him to his chair. However, before she could begin questioning him, she heard a scuffle outside. After overpowering Leet Brannis (James Frain), she discovered that Jarvis had removed “the motor” of the truck as Leet had tried to escape with it and the Nitramene. He then insisted on getting protection before he said anything. Peggy promised him that on the condition that he give her some information. Peggy then discovered that he had been hired by Leviathan to rob Stark, but had double-crossed Leviathan, who only wanted “one thing from Stark”. However, before he could say anything, Jarvis finished repairing the car. He then went to fetch McFee, but discovered that he had disappeared, and left behind his shotgun. Peggy then made Leet drive the truck, while Jarvis and the shotgun rode at the back with the Nitramene. However, their progress was interrupted after the man in the Green Suit jumped on top of the truck’s roof.
Meanwhile, Chief Dooley and Thompson ran into McFee, who was still strapped to his chair. He told them that a woman had handcuffed him to his chair.
At the truck, Peggy fought the man in the Green Suit on the roof, while Jarvis took over the wheel after Leet had been shot. As the Nitramene started to fall onto the floor, shells cracking, Peggy, who saw that they were near a river, instructed Jarvis to keep on driving straight. They then jumped off just in time as the truck went over the rails and hit the water, which contained the Nitramene blast.
They then discovered that Leet was dying. Before he died, he drew the logo or insignia of the Leviathan in the sand. Peggy then memorized it and removed the drawing. Jarvis then helped her to his car before Thompson, Dooley and Sousa got there.
Dooley discovered that a woman had been near Leet before he died. Sousa discovered the hotel key of where the man in the Green Suit had been staying.
Back at Stark’s place, Jarvis stitched up Peggy’s leg, and told her that she was lucky that he had stayed. He then reminded her that she needed support from someone in order to continue on doing her undercover missions- him. As she started to protest, he reminded her that she had been Captain America’s support during the time they were together as he had relied on her for moral and tactical support.
The next day, Angie, who was thrilled that Peggy had changed her mind about not becoming her neighbor, brought her to the owner of the Griffith Hotel, who interviewed her and gave her the requirements for living there, which included at 10:00 p.m. curfew.
Back at the office, Peggy became worried after seeing that Dooley, Thompson and Sousa were poring over the pictures that had been in Sousa’s drawer. However, Sousa revealed that the photographer had only managed to get a shot of the back of the woman’s head, much to Peggy’s relief.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Krzeminski managed to find Stark’s plate number in the remains of what was left of Roxxon Oil Refinery.
