MARVEL’s Agents of SHIELD Comic-Con Update: What WIll Happen Next and The Newest Addition to the Crew

The San Diego Comic Con is one of those conventions in which a fan of anything with regards to popular culture regular attends, and is an event that others dream to attend someday. Aside from reveling with like- minded people, in one of the biggest pop culture celebrations of the year, one can attend several special events, such as panels of various televisions shows, and upcoming movies. One of those television shows which does have a panel at this year’s San Diego Comic Con was MARVEL’s “Agents of SHIELD”, where fans asked questions, and some  hints, according to an exclusive report on Comic Book Resources, were dropped regarding the upcoming third season. Also, a new character was hinted at during the panel, according to Comic Book Resources, and an exclusive report on the official website of Entertainment Weekly. Also, according to SuperHeroHype, the press conference regarding the show also hinted at what to expect in the upcoming season, and teased what the cast expected what their characters will be doing in the third season. The “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” panel held at the San Diego Comic Con allowed fans of the show to get to know a little bit more about their favorite actors on the show, especially with regards to several behind the scenes things, such as their first impressions about each other, and who each one’s favorite MARVEL character was.


Those in attendance, according to Comic Book Resources,  were Ming-Na Wen, Brett Dalton, Elizabeth Henstridge, Clark Gregg, Chloe Bennet, Iain de Castecker, Adrienne Palicki, Nick Blood, Luke Mitchell and Henry Simmons. The panel was moderated by MARVEL’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb, who fondly called Palicki, Blood, Mitchell and Simmons as the “new kids” with regards to the series.

It was also revealed that the first time that Henstridge and DeCastecker met each other was during their audition and screen test in which they claimed that they were “emotional wrecks” as they did the scene in which they were at the bottom of the ocean together.

Later on during the panel, a pre-recorded video was shown of showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tanchoren. In the video, they talked about Chloe Bennet’s character as Quake, and showed a couple of “Inhuman” comic books. They also revealed that the team will have a new airbus, which will be called Zephyr One.

Comic Book Resources and the official website of Entertainment Weekly also revealed that a new character, named Lash, in the upcoming third season.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Lash is closely tied to the Inhumans, as he is the one who decides if one was worthy to undergo the process known as terrigenesis. According the report, he’ll be going after new Inhumans who had been changed due to ingesting the fish oil vitamin pills that now have Terrigen crystals in it, as seen at the very end of the second season.

According to the press conference that was released on SuperHeroHype, Loeb stated that the word “Inuhuman” will be something that they will be carrying on into the third season.

Chloe Bennet went on to mention that she will not be mentioned or referred to as “Agent Skye”, but as Daisy Johnson.

Henry Simmons, who portrays Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie, mentioned that since his character has now been out if the field, he will have more chances for him to be out there on the field in the upcoming season.

However, with regards to Agent Jemma Simmons’ fate, according to actress Elizabeth Henstridge, she’s also still pretty much in the dark, as she hasn’t been told or given any update about her character’s fate as of the moment.


Palicki, whose character went through some psychological problems and major physical injuries during the last episode of the second season, mentioned that her character, when we see her again, will be a little bit more unsure of her next steps, However, Blood mentioned that his Lance Hunter will be getting a little bit more serious, almost as if what had happened to Bobbi Morse had sobered him up a little bit.
