MARVEL’s ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Recap: ‘Laws of Nature’

Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.” Season 3 Episode 1 “Laws of Nature” aired last Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at 9:00 PM on ABC. In this episode, it was seen that Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet), Agent Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) and S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), in the past few months, have been tracking down new Inhumans, who have been rapidly popping up,  thanks to the terrigen contaminating the sea, before they disappear or get taken away by a special organization dedicated to hunting them down. Read on to learn more about the premiere episode of the season.

It was also seen how Agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrianne Palicki) had been coping, after the events of the second season finale, and Agent Lance Hunter’s (Nick Blood) plans were shown as well. Finally, Agent Leo Fitz’s (Iain de Caestecker) desperate search for answers regarding the whereabouts of Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) places him in danger, as he tracks down a lead that might hold the key to finding her.

The episode began several months after the events of the second season finale, with Agent Daisy Johnson (Chloe Bennet) and Agent Alphonso “Mack” Mackenzie (Henry Simmons) actively searching for the new Inhumans that have been popping up rapidly due to the terrigen contaminating the sea and fish oil vitamins.

This time, it led them to Joey Guitierrez (Juan Pablo Raba), whom they saved from a new government agency bent on capturing and eliminating Inhumans.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), now fitted with a prosthetic hand, managed to get a picture of the leader of the group, in order to find out who she is, and for whom she works for. He also visited Agent Bobbi “Mockingbird” Morse (Adrianne Palicki) in the laboratory, where she worked on creating a simulation regarding how widespread the terrigen would get. She also did forensics for the gun that they had acquired from the scene earlier with Joey, and began running facial recognition software on their elusive rival.

Meanwhile, Daisy and Mack tried to explain things to Joey, who had the ability to melt and liquefy metal. At first, he was alright with things, but lost it after discovering that he would never be able to go back to his normal life, as there was now a manhunt out for him.

Daisy and Mack, after getting permission from Coulson, set out to try to woo Lincoln Campbell (Luke Mitchell) back into S.H.I.E.L.D., as he was better than her in getting the new Inhumans to accept what had just happened to them. They went to the hospital he worked at, but were refused again.

Later, Bobbi, discovered their rival agency leader’s nightly patterns after tracking down where the gun Coulson had sent down to her was from, and informed them that they had an opportunity to catch her alone that night on the train.

However, they discovered that Rosalind Price (Constance Zimmer) was prepared for them, and after handcuffing both Coulson and Agent Lance Hunter (Nick Blood), it turned out that she knew more about Coulson than he would have thought possible. However, after discovering that they had a mysterious new enemy who made some other Inhumans, Coulson and Hunter managed to escape.

However, it turned out that a new monstrous Inhuman had broken into the hospital looking for Lincoln. Lincoln and Daisy managed to hold him off, but it caused a lot of casualties, and Lincoln went on the run.

This caused the President of the United States to announce that he had sanctioned Rosalind’s group to deal with the Inhuman threats.

Later, back at S.H.I.E.L.D., Hunter informed Bobbi that he wasn’t going to wait for her to fully recover before going on a mission to hunt Grant Ward (Brett Dalton) down. However, things, relationship wise, seemed good between them.

Meanwhile, Fitz, in Morocco, managed to trick a dangerous criminal to give him a Skrull artifact with a parchment that would help him figure the Kree monolith out, which would let him get Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) back, as he believed that the stone was actually a black hole.

However, the parchment contained one word- Death. Coulson then told Fitz that he was going to inform Simmons’ parents that she had gone missing, so that they could all finally move on.

Fitz then entered the glass case of the monolith, and desperately screamed and pounded at the rock, which wouldn’t return the woman he loved.

Meanwhile, on an alien planet, Simmons began to desperately run away from something.
