MasterChef Cast Update: The First-Ever Vegetarian Chef
“MasterChef US” Season 6 has a lot in store for its viewers. Aside from the new challenges, the people itself make the sixth season more exciting. Get to know the first vegetarian contestant in the history of American MasterChef kitchen. Read on for details.
The Indian Express reported that Hetal Vasavada, a 28-year-old Indian-American, is one interesting chef. Her expertise is creating desserts with unusual ingredients like Indian spices. She experienced using garam masala, coriander, cumin and turmeric to make American and Indian fusion sweets.
Vasavada successfully created a delicious apple pastry with cardamom whipped cream to pass her audition in “MasterChef.” Her unique skills were developed in the University of the Sciences, Philadelphia. The university mostly had Indian students, who still preferred home-cooked dishes. Because of this, Vasavada decided to cook for her dorm mates.
The pastry chef dreamed of starting a cookie business. She also longed for conducting consultations on various recipes for entrepreneurial purposes.
“MasterChef US” was full of excitement since day one as the new batch of amateur chefs were having a hard time to get inside the kitchen. The first 20 contestants were shocked. They encounter surprise opponents of the same quantity to enter the kitchen. There were a total of 40 home cooks fighting for a spot in the competition.
Each head-to-head showdown was based on the expertise of every contestant. One of the veteran “MasterChef” judges, Graham Elliot, explained that it was going to be “steak versus steak, seafood versus seafood, bakers versus bakers.” It was all about fair play. Elliot guaranteed that half of the initial contestants would go home as the episode ends.
“MasterChef,” which stars world-renowned chefs Gordon Ramsay, Christina Tosi and Elliot, airs every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. on FOX.
