Are you excited for the “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials”? Well, you’re not alone, as people are now starting to flock in the cinemas for the franchise release this coming September 18! But, before that, let’s have a round up about what moviegoers should remember before watching the film. Read on for more details.
Every fan of the upcoming second installment of “Maze Runner” arise all getting itchy to get the details for their favorite film series. Some even stayed out late just to get the newest and hottest news about the movie. This time around what fans should study about the movie adaptation from James Dashner’s novel are the following:
Dylan O’Brien as Thomas
The young actor above plays as Thomas, but did you know that he almost lost his role because of his hair?
Moviepilot reported before that Dylan O’Brien who is also known for his role in MTV’s “Teen Wolf” had an issue with his hair. It was reported that it looks “too MTV” for the movie, and it was revealed that it almost cost his character as Thomas. The 24-year-old actor admitted:
“I didn’t hear back for like a month and a half, because Wes -the director- was like ‘His hair is too MTV’.” O’Brien said.
But then, when he showed Wes a picture of him in a buzzcut hairstyle (which he sported in his “Teen Wolf” days), it got him the role of Thomas that made him one of the famous stars worldwide.
Who was able to read the book?
No one! Shocking as it is, no one from the cast members has ever read the book even before they agreed on being part of the franchise.
Teresa Agnes is the only princess in the group.
The “Skins” star Kaya Scoldelario was tapped to play the character of Teresa (original name, Deedee), the female protagonist in the movie. She was also described to have piercing blue eyes. According to MTV, her character has some sort of strong connection with Thomas, that fans don’t yet fully understand.
Switched character auditions.
It was revealed that Thomas Brodie-Sangster did not audition for Newt’s character, instead, he chose Gally to be his target and so did Will Poulter, who auditioned for Newt and not for Gally. (What will it look like if the two got the parts? Sangster as Gally and Poulter as Newt)
In “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” the world we will be in is the screwed one. Meaning, or characters are in an uninhabitable place; the sun flares, the ice melted, and even the Coastal cities disappeared and went under the sea. Then to save the world, the Post-Flares Coalition decided to release a virus that would cull some of the population, but then, it backfired to them as the virus [now known as “The Flare”] turned to be dangerous, making those who were infected completely insane.
Meanwhile, in the behind the scenes, the set was revealed to have 25 real venomous snakes! It was reported that the production had to hire snake wranglers to search inside the filming set before they started shooting, and they found real snakes! And here’s what O’Brien had to say about that
“I said ‘Is it rare to get bit’ and they were like ‘Ah, so so, but, there’s the best hospital down the road you know’… Apparently, it’s supposed to make us feel better that, you know, if we’re unlucky we could be just getting bit by snakes dying because there’s no hospital nearby.” –Moviepilot
The story revolves around the characters who were chosen to be part of an experiment. It was mainly because they are immune to the virus and, in order to find a solution, the creators made the Maze [a social experiment designed to find a cure for the virus—MTV]. The Gladers were examined by The Creators, an organization called W.C.K.D. The leader of the org is Ava Page, played by Patricia Clarke. Upon the Gladers escape, Ava recorded a video then after that the group believes that she committed suicide, but the truth is, she is very much alive and is ready to give the group a much challenging trial.
Now, as the time of release is just around the corner, better keep yourself ready for a more heart-pounding scenes for the upcoming “Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials.”
