‘Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials’ Movie Update: Dylan O’Brien Teases Exciting Details About the Sequel
“Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials” is only a few months left from hitting the theatres and Dylan O’Brien cannot help but share few exciting details of what fans can expect to see in the upcoming sequel. The “Teen Wolf” star revealed that the Gladers are set to enter into a “whole new world.” Read on to learn more about this scoop.
“The Scorch Trials” is the sequel to James Dashner’s hit book series, “The Maze Runner.” While fans of Dashner’s book series already have a hint as to what they could expect in the upcoming sequel. O’Brien, who plays Thomas in the movie, revealed that there will be some surprising changes in the movie adaptation.
“There’s a whole new world that we dive into. In the first one we were just in the Glade, in the Maze, and in this one you really see what’s on the outside… which is basically a dessert,” O’Brien told MTV News.
The 23-year-old actor also shared behind-the-scenes details about the latest movie including the movie’s filming location. As most fans know, the sequel to “The Maze Runner” is set in an area filled with sand dunes, but the cast and the crew did not have to go to a desert or anywhere else for that matter. O’Brien revealed that the scenes were shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
The “Teen Wolf” star also revealed that “The Underneath” was filmed in an underground mall called Winrock mall.
Meanwhile, director Wes Ball revealed in a different interview with MTV News that “The Scorch Trials” is “about being scared, and locked in to these dark place with just flashlights.”
Ball also hinted that there will not be as much lighting into the movie, as it adds to the visual effects of the movie. It made the Gladers wonder if they should set out into the sand dunes or if they should stay inside.
