Meg Ryan Knows How Tough Divorce Is; Her Own Experience Inspired “Ithaca”

Actress Meg Ryan has not been seen lately in a major role on the silver screen. However, she is back with a bang this October after “Ithaca”, her directorial debut hit the film festival circuit in Georgia and Virginia.
The movie has been set behind the backdrop of the Second World War and showcases the drama about a young male protagonist, who delivers telegrams in his small town. Her film is based on “The Human Comedy” by William Saroyan.
Meg was attending a Q&A session at a screening of her film when she said that she knows how tough life his as her mom and dad were divorced. The screening was taking place at the Savannah Film Festival.
Meg, 53, often wondered about how to nurture the quality of integrity within a young man. She read many books till she came across a book called “The Human Comedy”. Ryan was convinced that the book carried a lot of wisdom and there were excellent questions that were asked through the tale.
Ryan was recently honored with a “Lifetime Achievement Award”. Many of the cast members such as Nick Williams and Danny Jolles are well acquainted with Meg’s son, Jack Quaid. Incidentally, Jack also stars in the movie.
The actress turned director said that all these people are friends of her, as well as of her son. She has been a big admirer of these actors’ comedy timings and styles for quite a long time.
She was asked by a member in the audience about the nest advice she had ever received. Ryan replied that she did not listen to the advice.
In 1997, Meg filed for a divorce from her then-husband Quaid, 61. They were married for nine years.
