Michael Douglas Won’t Wear a Costume in ‘Ant-Man’ Movie

Michael Douglas, who will be playing Hank Pym, the first Ant-Man in the comics, will not be suiting up on the upcoming Marvel feature film “Ant-Man.” Read on to find out why.

“My costume will be hung up, and Paul [Rudd] will be wearing it in good form,” Ant-Man actor Michael Douglas revealed in an interview with MTV. “Paul Rudd is ripped. He’s been training and working out for this picture for a long time. He was so cut, that they had to soften his costume up, with all the built-in six-packs and all of that.”

Marvel’s “Ant-Man” is an upcoming superhero film based on the comic book characters of the same name produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It is part of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) Phase Three project that will expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe along with “Captain America 3,” “Doctor Strange” and “Guardians of the Galaxy 2.”

“Ant-Man” stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, the titular size-shifting con man turned hero Ant-Man; Michael Douglas as Henry Pym, scientist credited for the discovery of Pym particles, which enables size alteration; and Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll who will play Hope Van Dyne and central villain, Darren Cross or Yellow Jacket respectively. John Slattery, who previously played the role of Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s father in “Iron Man 2,” joined the cast along with Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Abby Ryder Fortson, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, Gregg Turkington and rapper-actor T.I.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige will produce the film along with Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Victoria Alonso, Michael Grillo and Stan Lee as executive producers. “Ant-Man” is directed by Peyton Reed, known for his works including “Bring It On,” “Down with Love” and “The Break-Up.” It will hit the big screens on July 17, 2015.
