Michael Trevino Talks about His ‘TVD’ Exit After Six Seasons
It wasn’t only Nina Dobrev, who plays the character Elena Gilbert on “The Vampire Diaries” who left the show after six seasons. We also had Michael Trevino who plays Tyler Lockwood and he was actually ready to leave. Read on for more details.
According to People Magazine, Trevino’s character as Tyler has always delivered very interesting storylines. However, during the later part of the show he had lesser things to do. In fact, his presence started to be missed after a while.
He realized this and he was even surprised that “Tyler didn’t run out of things to do earlier.” Trevino remains grateful to have lasted this long and accepts that it is time to move on.
Trevino also said that now is the perfect time to leave the show.
“You know, it’s difficult to write for Tyler. The whole werewolf lineage and storyline itself is pretty difficult. Once you become a werewolf and you’ve taken on that transformation, you won’t really see Tyler hanging out with Stefan or Damon. And werewolves are recluses – they stick to their own and they’re not always around, really. To be honest, I’m surprised I didn’t run out of storyline earlier. Having Klaus come in and make Tyler the first hybrid kept me on the show and kept things interesting, along with the lovely relationship with Caroline that Tyler had. They really found a way to stretch out his storyline and so the fact that we’ve made it to six seasons? I’ll be forever grateful for that. I had a good run.”
All’s end that ends well.
However, we are truly sad to see Tyler go! Trevino’s character has played a huge part in the show and it would be different not to see him next season.
