Microsoft and Disney Teaming Up to Produce A ‘Banjo-Kazooie’ Movie [WATCH VIDEO]

With the success of “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Big Hero 6,” Disney is reportedly planning to make a “Banjo-Kazooie” film. Would it have the same success as the other hit Disney movies? Read on to learn more about this scoop.

Disney is reportedly looking to making the Microsoft/Rare console game, “Banjo-Kazooie” into a film after the success of their animated films, “Wreck-It Ralph” and “Big Hero 6.”


According to Game Reactor, the rumor first started when Jenny W Pratt tweeted: “There was a rumor floating around at Wondercon about Disney interested in making a big animated Banjo –Kazooie film w/ Microsoft for 2018/19.”

Pratt followed her tweet with another rumor that the team behind “Wreck-It Ralph” will be writing and directing the movie.

WonderCon is one of the largest conventions on the latest comic books, movies, and TV show, which was recently was recently held on April 3 – 5, 2015 in California.

“Banjo-Kazooie” was one of the most successful video games developed by Rare. According to Game Rant, the game sold 1.8 million copies on the Nintendo 64 in 1998. It was also awarded as the Console Action Game of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Art/Graphics by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences in 1999.

The outlet also cited that the rumor might just be true, given the large fan base that this bear and bird game had back in the early days.

The outlet also cited rumors that “Banjo-Kazooie” characters will also be appearing in “Wreck-It Ralph 2” as cameos and video game references. Aside from these rumors, the director of “Wreck-It Ralph,” Richard Moore also hinted that the sequel will be focusing more on online and console games.

This might be taken as an introduction to a full-fledged film, which might take place in 2018 or 2019.

“Banjo-Kazooie” is also reportedly being added to the Super Smash Bros. as DLC and former Rare developers are reportedly planning to develop a new console game based from Banjo.
