Mindy Kaling Shares Hollywood Secret: ‘Filming Sex Scenes Is Awesome!’

“The Mindy Project” star Mindy Kaling just revealed a small Hollywood secret: filming sex scenes with co-stars is actually awesome! The 35-year-old comedienne shares that actors actually lie when they denote ‘filming sex scenes’ as awkward, annoying or uncomfortable.

Mindy Kaling says that she has featured a chapter titled “I Love Sex Scenes!” in her upcoming book “Why Not Me?” She mentioned that “coming close to the actual act can be a lot of fun.” The actress’ second book is slated to be released on Sept. 29.

“Obviously onscreen sex is not actual penetrative sex, but simulating sex can be pretty damn enjoyable as well,” she told The Huffington Post.

She also elaborated that it was pleasant to “crawl around in a bed” with a co-star, which is a way for a person to bond very quickly. She added that she never felt disturbed or uncomfortable with a throng of crew members around while shooting for such scenes.

Mindy’s upcoming book “Why Not Me?” consists of a collection of essays, in which she shared her ongoing journey to find happiness, pleasure and excitement in her adult life. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter last month, Mindy talked about the title of her book, explaining that it has two meanings.

“The first one is the wistful meaning where I am at an age where a lot of my friends are getting married, and I have a sense of a feeling of being left out. Another side is the ambitious side of me that for my entire life, though no one has ever bared a passing resemblance to me in television or film, why not me? Why can’t I do that?” she explained.

Mindy Kaling created “The Mindy Project” in 2012, but it was canceled by Fox on May 6. Hulu, however, has since picked up the series for a fourth season set to premiere on May 15.
