Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton to End Their 4-year Marriage
Associated Press confirmed that Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are ending their four-year marriage.
The country music superstars Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton filed for divorce in Oklahoma recently. The couple had started dating in 2006 and were last seen together in public on july 3 at the Greenbrier Classic Concert in West Virginia. Strangely, it was Shelton who initiated the court proceedings for the divorce.
Reps for the couple issued a joint statement via the Associated Press, “This is not the future we envisioned. And it is with heavy hearts that we move forward separately. We are real people, with real lives, with real families, friends and colleagues. Therefore, we kindly ask for privacy and compassion concerning this very personal matter.”
The couple had first met each other when they sang a duet together for CMT’s 100 Greatest Duets Concert in 2005. At that time, Shelton was still married to his first wife, Kaynette Gern. They became engaged to each other after Shelton proposed to Lambert at their Tishomingo, Oklahoma home in 2010. Shelton had at the time told Us Weekly that his union to Lambert would be his “last marriage.” They were married one year later in 2011 in front of over 550 guests which included some of country western music genre’s biggest stars.
The couple had always appeared to be extremely close to each other. Lambert had told Marie Claire recently that she wasn’t always sunshine and roses but Shelton was the happiest person on the planet. Lambert had mentioned once that Shelton manages to “pulls me out of my darkness literally” and that she had said is one of the best things of being married to him. This s probably why the couple’s decision to go separate ways came as such a surprise to their fans.
The couple declared that the statement issued to the Associated Press will be the last one they would release for the time, Fox News reported recently.
