‘Mr. and Mrs. Smith’ Game Show in the Works

“Mr. and Mrs. Smith” that starred Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie marks a very important time in the couple’s life for it was this movie where the two worked together and fell in love during filming. Decade down the line, the same movie is about to get a game show based on it and will be brought to television.

According to Yahoo! Movies, reality TV producers 3 Ball Entertainment credited for “Extreme Weight Loss” are collaborating with New Regency to bring a game show that will be based on the movie. “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” was about a married upper middle class couple who are both unaware of each other’s profession. It is later revealed that both of them are highly trained assassins and are given contracts to kill the same target. When the two come to know about each other, they are given new contracts of killing each other by their respective agencies. Although the game show’s format is still not known and not much details about how the game show will go about has been revealed, what is known is that the show will feature married couples who will be competing in the show at a high octane game. The show’s format is said to be a twist on the reality TV format.

The game show comes amidst when there is much demand for family oriented shows that can replace other singing shows like upcoming “American Idol” which is in its final season. This new wave of game shows has started to gain popularity ever since ABC’s show “500 Questions” started in May followed by “Celebrity Family Feud”. The latter show garnered extremely positive response from the audiences. These game shows are also increasingly gaining popularity since the production cost is quite cheap as compared to reality shows.

One has to agree that it would be amazing to see a show based on the movie since it will come with a bit of brand recognition within itself.
