MTV Movie Awards 2014

After the 86th Academy Awards or the Oscars 2014, you might think that that wraps up the award season. You are wrong! There is still hope for those who did not make it at the Oscars, as MTV Movie Awards 2014 released its full list of nominees. The said event will be held on Sunday, April 13, 2014 at the Nokia Theatre in  Los Angeles, California.

If the Oscars 2014 had Ellen DeGeneres as a host, the MTV Movie Awards has the late-night guy Conan O’Brien to keep the show alive from start to finish. O’Brien shared that he was truly honored for having chosen to host the  event.

“After eight years of intense negations, I am honored to announce I am hosting MTV’s second most prestigious awards show,” said O’Brien in the MTV report.

The movies “American Hustle” and “The Wolf of Wall Street” are on a head-to-head battle, as each has eight nominations. “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” comes in second with seven nominations. Next in line is “We’re the Millers” with six. Moreover, the following movies have four nominations: “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” “This is the End,” “Dallas Buyers Club” and “12 Years a Slave.”

With all these top films part of the nominations, it sure is a tough competition for the Golden Popcorn trophy. The MTV Movie Awards has been known for its “unusual” categories such as: Best Kiss, Best Shirtless Performance, #WTF Moment, and Best Scared-As S**T Performance.
