‘N SYNC Together Again for 40th Anniversary of ‘Saturday Night Live’
For the 40th anniversary of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” (SNL), a number of well-known performers were in line to give their all on stage. As expected, the audience was also quite a star-studded group. Confirmed to be among the crowd are the five members of ‘N SYNC.
On Saturday, Feb. 14, 2015, it was confirmed that the ‘N SYNC members will be attending “SNL’s” special event through a post on the group’s official Twitter account saying, “Together again… Gee, it’s good to be together again #SNL40.”
In any case, this led to a number of cheers from fans, which also led to a question: will they be performing together for the event?
Sorry, but that’s a no. As far as NBC confirmed, one of the members and five-time “SNL” host, Justin Timberlake, will be joining in the event onstage. Timberlake even posted a photo of him in the middle of a writing session with Jimmy Fallon, Steve Higgins and Paula Pell. But there wasn’t any announcement that the entire band will be performing.
All hopes for an ‘N SYNC band performance were further crushed when Lance Bass took to Twitter to say, “For the record, we are not performing or doing a skit tonight on SNL. But look hard for us in [the] audience! Fun night ahead! #SNL40.”
Since their formation in 1995, they became one of the most well-known boy bands. But back in 2002, the boys went on hiatus and later confirmed that the band has split up. Nevertheless, they are still quite close with each other and get together from time to time. One such group performance they had after their split was during the MTV Music Video Awards back in August 2013.
On another note, even though ‘N SYNC will not be performing for the night, NBC confirmed that the Backstreet Boys will be performing onstage for the special.
The 40th anniversary special of “Saturday Night Live” aired on Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015.
