NBA Trade Rumors: New York Knicks Considers Trading Jose Calderon As Jerian Grant & Langston Galloway Are More Efficient?
The recent NBA trade rumors pointed out that the New York Knicks considers trading their starting point guard Jose Calderon, as their point guards Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway prove to be highly efficient. Read on to know more details.
According to YIBADA, the official statistics of the New York Knicks revealed that the backup point guard pair Jerian Grant and Langston Galloway are more successful than the starting point guard pair Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic.
Calderon and Vujacic scored 12.1 points per 36 minutes, while Grant and Galloway scored 20.5 points every 36 minutes when they are on the court, reported Sports World Report. It seems that the Knicks might trade Calderon before the trade deadline in February 2016, if this statistical trend continues.
Reports revealed that the 34-year-old Calderon would do better when paired with Arron Afflalo than with Vujacic. Afflalo is currently being from his hamstring injury. It is expected that Calderon would show improvement when Afflalo returns within a few weeks.
Based on a report from Sports Media 101, Derek Fisher, the Knicks’ head coach, is firm in continuing Calderon as the starting point guard at the moment. However, Fisher also said that he would finally make the decision that is best for the Knicks.
Reports revealed that Calderon is not bothered about the trade rumors as well as about the better performance of Grant. He said in an interview that nothing would upset him “as long as the team is winning.”
When Afflalo comes back healthy, Vujacic’s playing time would reduce and either Calderon or Grant would be the starting point guard, according to another report from Sports World Report. Galloway and the other player (Calderon or Grant), who is not going to be the starting point guard, would come off the bench.
It is obvious that Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic are not performing up to the mark, and are bringing the New York Knicks down. Let us see what happens when Arron Afflalo comes back.
