Previously on “NCIS” (“So It Goes”), while on the road, a man was talking on the phone when someone blew his car off. The NCIS arrived in the scene of the crime and did their thing. At first, the team were puzzled on why they were called. They soon learned that the victim was supposed to deliver documents to the NCIS before he got killed. The team found identification leading to a man named Angus Clarke. Ducky (David McCallum) then reminisced about his long lost friend. However, when Gibbs (Mark Harmon) revealed the address, it turned out that it really was his friend.
While outside the autopsy room, Gibbs told Ducky that he can have somebody else examine the body, but Ducky refused. Ducky checked the teeth of the victim. He was surprised to find out that the victim had original incisors, as Angus’ were implants. Ducky would know because he was the reason why Angus lost his two front teeth.
Abby (Pauley Perette) identified the victim as Samuel Colpepper. Colpepper was supposed to go to the NCIS to hand in some information. Colpepper worked for Angus. Angus went back to England a few days earlier, while Colpepper stayed for shopping and sightseeing.
Bishop (Emily Wickersham), along with Ducky, traveled to England to visit Angus. When they reached the hotel he owned, his assistant, Gareth Godfrey, entertained them. It turned out that his wife, Margaret, was also looking for him to sign their divorce papers. Bishop and Ducky would like to search Angus’ office, but Godfrey refused to allow them. Margaret urged that they proceed so they can find where her husband is.
This episode had a lot of flashbacks. It was revealed that Ducky, Margaret and Angus were best friends. Ducky was in love with Margaret but was too scared to admit it. Hence, Margaret ended up marrying Angus.
Tony (Michael Weatherly) and Gibbs met with Peter Velo. He recently met with Angus and helped him with his business when it faced bankruptcy. When Velo learned that Colpepper was dead, he said that Angus was angry at him about something.
With Bishop’s information, it was revealed that there were in fact five murdered officers. But the catch was the last one was still alive. Gibbs and McGee (Sean Murray) rushed to find him. Bucket did not want to come with them. When he drank from his bottle, he suddenly felt ill. It was found that Bucket was allergic to shellfish, and there was residue on his bottle. Not only that, the replacements for the dead officers were all Albanian American.
While in Angus’ office, Godfrey stopped Ducky and Margaret from leaving. Ducky excused himself to take a call from Gibbs. After their conversation, Godfrey revealed his identity. He was the one who killed Angus. He threatened to kill Margaret and Ducky. Ducky slashed him in the brachial artery, which means that he has 90 seconds to live. Ducky pressed him with questions. He said that they were running a prostitution in the hotel, and Angus learned of smuggling in the U.S.
It turned out that it was all Velo’s doing. When Tony and Gibbs showed up in the establishment he was acquiring, he made a run for it, only to find McGee waiting for him.
The episode ended with Ducky and Margaret in front of the Big Ben, with Ducky telling Margaret why he never married.
