In this episode, while investigating the murder of an old friend of the team’s, NCIS Special Agent Timothy “Tim” McGee (Sean Murray) and NCIS Probationary Special Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop (Emily Wickersham) went undercover as a married couple in order to get to the bottom of things. Meanwhile, NCIS Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo, Jr. (Michael Weatherly) quickly discovered that learning about one’s ancestry wasn’t as great as it was cut out to be. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with NCIS Probationary Special Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop (Emily Wickersham) and NCIS Special Agent Timothy “Tim” McGee (Sean Murray) undercover as a married couple, with Ellie being a marine. They were watching the couple across the street from them, the Hudsons, carefully, as they were murderers.

They were undercover there at Quantico as a married couple as Major Sussex Newton. The NCIS team had helped before, had turned up dead after calling NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) up a week ago.

After discovering that the major had been murdered, the entire team refocused their energies on discovering who had transferred from the major’s camp, Camp Le Juene, to Quantico in the last two years. They began to believe that his murder might just be connected to the case that they had helped him with before, in which they caught one of the major’s soldiers stealing from the camp’s armory. However, the major always held on to the belief that their main suspect had an accomplice, but none of his leads ever turned up anything.

After ruling out a master sergeant who had transferred from Le Juene to Quantico, Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) discovered that a print from a plastic knife that the major had wrapped in a napkin. It had sealed in an envelope, belonged to a civilian, Lauren Hudson (Stephanie Koenig), who was married to Navy Captain Dean Hudson (Bart Johnson), and who recently moved to Quantico with her husband from Le Juene.

NCIS Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo Jr. (Michael Weatherly) and Gibbs then paid them a visit, where they claimed that they hadn’t seen the major at Quantico at all. It was disproved by the fact that Bishop and McGee had managed to get camera footage from the base restaurant, which showed that the major had encountered them there, and had taken Lauren’s plastic knife from there.

As Tony and Gibbs had both been seen by the Hudsons, McGee and Bishop had no choice but to go undercover as a married couple, even though Bishop wasn’t on good terms with McGee at the moment. It was due to the fact that he had spoiled her anniversary surprise to her husband, accidentally. It also turned out that Bishop was currently having some problems with her husband.

Later, Abby, who had been taking a traffic school test, realized that it was odd that Lauren, an heiress, had gotten a new Driver’s License recently as she had no actual reason to.

After checking out both of her licenses, the new and the old, Abby realized that Lauren was an imposter.

Later, while tailing Lauren, McGee was outed by one of the major’s men, but managed to capture Lauren.

Meanwhile, Bishop made the mistake of going inside the Hudson’s alone while the couple was away. She discovered that Lauren was really Rita Applegate, and discovered that the real Lauren had been preserved and had been placed in a box.

She and Hudson fought after he was warned by Rita about Bishop and McGee, but Bishop managed to stab in the back with a pair of scissors.

It turned out that they had killed the real Lauren for her money, and had killed the major after he had found this out. However, Rita was willing to testify against Hudson.

Later, Tony, who had been thinking a lot about family as of late, decided not to go to England, as it turned out that his aristocratic English ancestor. He was able to track him down by using a website who ran DNA tests. It was said that he also a criminal, and a suspected serial killer, thus teaching him that learning about one’s past may not be as great as it seemed.
