‘NCIS’ Recap: ‘Lockdown’

“NCIS” Season 13 Episode 5 “Lockdown” aired last Tuesday, on October 20, 2015 at 8:00 PM on CBS. In this episode, while the team investigated the mysterious death of a Navy Reserve Captain, Forensic Scientist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) found herself in the middle of a hostage situation after going on a field trip to a particular pharmaceutical company in relation to a chemical compound found in the dead captain. Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode began with a woman calling the cops after she bumped into a car while texting and driving, which had a dead body in the trunk.

The NCIS team was then called in as the victim was a Navy Reserve Captain named Jeremy Doblin, who somehow had several strange magnetic objects within his body.

This case pulled NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon) from the office, much to the chagrin of Forensic Scientist Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette), who was trying to get Gibbs to talk to accounting in order to switch office spaces with her as she was tired of having her laboratory at the basement.

At the morgue, Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum) and his assistant, Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen), informed Gibbs that the captain had been trying to smuggle out several vials of a potent neurotoxin in a canister that he had swallowed. Abby then came with a permission slip for Gibbs to sign as she had decided to go herself to Celodyne Pharmaceuticals as she had found traces of a drug that they manufactured in the captain’s blood.

There, she met Dr. Janice Brown (Lucy Davis), who, like Abby, worked in a basement laboratory, and who shared many interests in common, such as a refrigerator full of CafPow, with her.

Janice then told Abby that her sample was a little bit strange as the active ingredient in the drug was missing, but they were interrupted after a lockdown alarm began wailing. After a while, the alarm stopped, but they soon discovered that they were trapped inside the room as several men dressed up like janitors with guns started shooting, and took hostages in the hallways.

Abby then decided to go out and try to look for the server room down the hall in order to get access to call Gibbs, while Janice hid inside her laboratory. Abby also discovered that the alarm had been a false alarm.

Meanwhile, NCIS Special Agent Timothy “Tim” McGee (Sean Murray)  found a cellphone in the captain’s car, which rang, and asked if he was ready for an appointment with his new clients. Gibbs then went undercover as Doblin, only to discover a bunch of ladies waiting for him to begin botox treatments on them, which what the neurotoxin had been for.

After questioning them, NCIS Special Agent Anthony “Tony” DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) learned that the captain was only doing the treatments in order to get fast cash as he needed money to pay back a loan shark from whom he had borrowed some money from for a real estate deal that turned out to be bogus, and later told them that the captain seemed to be “off his medications,” which directed them back to Celodyne, where Abby was able to make a quick phone call to Gibbs, who immediately mobilized his team to go there, with NCIS Probationary Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop (Emily Wickersham) staying behind in order to monitor all surveillance footage from MTAC.

Inside the server room, Abby hid in a closet after locking the server system and mixed some chemicals that she found in the broom closet in order to drive the men inside away, before joining Janice in the laboratory by climbing through the air vents.

Together, they created a smoke signal using CafPow, which McGee immediately picked up on.

The men, who were determined not to leave any witness alive, then called Abby to unlock the system, as they had discovered that she was there as she had logged in as a guest that morning, or else they would begin shooting hostages.

The pair then made a fake bomb that led the men to the broom closet where they were hiding, but Abby, inside the server room, refused to do anything for them, released a knock out gas just as McGee managed to open the doors.

As she came to, she had Janice arrested as she had realized that Janice had been working with the men because she had discovered that Janice had triggered the false alarm, and as the men had pronounced her name correctly on the first try.

Later, they discovered that Doblin, a chemist, had come to Janice as he had realized that Celodyne had been falsifying data on the reports on some of their generic drugs, and that Janice had hired some men to steal the proof she needed to take Celodyne down from the server room. However, things got messy as the leader, Travis Cook (Robert Neary) had lost control, and had also shot Doblin who had been getting cold feet.

They also arrested Celodyne’s CEO for falsifying data.

Abby then realized that she liked her basement laboratory after all.
