As another “sweeps” month is upon us, television shows and series are preparing to dazzle and impress their viewers with equally amazing storylines. As with other television shows, “NCIS” is no exception and will kick off their “sweeps” month with the latest episode, “NCIS” Season 12 Episode 13 “We Build, We Fight.” However, according to an interview that TV Line did with showrunner Gary Glasberg, viewers and fans of the hit television show should expect nothing less from the television show, and he gave TV Line an exclusive sneak peek as to what will be happening not only in the “sweeps” episodes and talked a little bit about the show’s season finale. Spoiler TV also released CBS’ official press releases with regard to some of the episodes in question.
WARNING: This article may contain spoilers for the next three upcoming episodes of “NCIS” Season 12—Episode 14 “Cadence” which will air on Feb. 10, 2015; Episode 15 “Cabin Fever,” which will air on Feb. 17, 2015; and Episode 16 “Blast from the Past,” which will air on Feb. 24, 2015—plus the upcoming season finale. Read on only to learn more about the rest of “NCIS Season 12.”
According to the official press release that was shared on Spoiler TV, Episode 14 “Cadence,” which will air on Feb. 10, 2015, will see the team investigating a murdered marine, who, as it turns out, was a Military Academy classmate of none other than NCIS Special Agent Anthony “Tony” Di Nozzo (Michael Weatherly). As they continue to investigate the case, several flashbacks will show a teenaged Tony, who will be portrayed by Tanner Stine, in school.
In an interview that TV Line had with showrunner Gary Glasberg, not only will the show feature a young Tony, but it will also reveal his relationship with an old school mentor of his. This, according to Glasberg, will allow the viewers to gain more insight into who Tony truly is, as his past can illuminate and inform the viewers as to the man that he has become. The episode will also show how Tony’s relationship with his old mentor mirrors how he is as an agent and how he sees and acts around with his boss, NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon).
The third episode in the sweeps month will be Episode 15 “Cabin Fever,” which will air on Feb. 17, 2015. According to Spoiler TV’s shared press release, the team will be investigating an explosion wherein they end up going after the current season’s main villain, Sergei Mishnev, as they believe that he is the prime suspect in the explosion. While the team goes after Mishnev, Gibbs tries to help and comfort Senior FBI Agent T.C. Fornell (Joe Spano), as he tries to deal with his grief over his murdered wife, Diane Sterling (Melinda McGraw), who was also Gibbs’ ex-wife.
Glasberg’s interview with TV Line exposed that this episode will deal heavily with the aftermath of Diane’s murder and will allow the two to work out the grief and issues that they’re both facing. Glasberg also mentioned that this emotional episode will have some wonderful scenes between the two men.
It was also shared in the interview that the final episode during February Sweeps will be Episode 16 entitled “Blast From the Past,” which will air on Feb. 24, 2015. In this episode, Gibbs will get a “blast from the past” when they investigate a murder in which the victim was using a covert identity from one of Gibbs’ past undercover cases.
Aside from this, Glasberg also mentioned that viewers and fans of the show should expect to see Delilah, NCIS Special Agent Timothy “Tim” McGee’s (Sean Murray) girlfriend, sometime soon, as well as Tony’s father, who is portrayed by Robert Wagner. Glasberg also teased that viewers should expect the season finale to be a little bit more explosive than the previous year, especially since Mishnev is still out there.
