The awards show, which is set to air on Feb. 22, 2015, has Harris excited. On Sunday, preparations for the big event were revealed, and Harris and the producers of the show have placed precautions in order to protect the Academy Awards winners from a potential Kanye West situation.
In a tweet, Neil Patrick Harris said that after checking the preparations done in the set of the Oscars, they have put up another layer of Kanye-proofing, just in case the first one fails.
He also talked about how his less panicky now with his hosting duties. According to New York Times, Harris remembers the time when he used to watch the Academy Awards with his family. They made it a bonding experience, printing out ballots and writing their predictions, seeing if they got it who won. He further said that as he gets older, his family’s Oscar viewing parties transformed into a betting party. This time, they still write the same ballots, but with different wagers. It now involves more drinking, and in his home, there’s a heavy consuming of Velveeta and Pace Picante.
He also revealed that he still get nervous every time he’s asked to host the Oscars, but it’s not much of a pressure compared to being an Oscar nominee. He further said it’s an incomparable feeling of an Oscar nominee, waiting for your name to be called while still trying to have a good time and not letting the anxiety show.
