New York Comic Con 2015: New Batman Image Reveals The Process Behind The Making Of The Costume
The on-going New York Comic Con has turned into a battle zone for supreme glory and it seems DC Extended Universe came prepared for it. After yesterday’s report about LexCorp providing free Internet services at the event, today’s update reveals what it took for the costume designers to give us the bloody good Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman costumes that we have been seeing in the trailer and the promos.
According to Screen Rant, the latest episode of “DC All Access” reveals the most important piece of trivia about “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.” We have seen the menacing and finely detailed costumes in the “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” trailer and the promos that have been released over the last few months.
What normally a fan would see is the overall look, but according to Michael Wilkinson who designed the costumes, it is so much more than the overall look. The designer stated that just about a year back, he got a brief from Zack Snyder about what his vision was with respect to Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman’s look in the movie. They sat down a year back and kept on working on the costumes until they actually started to shoot the movie.
For Superman’s costume, it was not just about the texture on it, it had to give a feeling of the outer world since the Man of Steel’s costume was designed with alien technology. He further explained that there was this Kryptonian script embedded on the costume that Zack really loved, as it gave the look of the suit natural power and responsibility.
For Batman’s Costume, their major focus was to make the Dark Knight look like a real Hulking guy who actually happens to be bigger than Superman himself. The standing out element in the costume was not Batman’s gadgets or armor but it was the tower of muscle he was going to flaunt with his costume. Other elements like the cape were going to give him the edge anyways.
Finally, for Wonder Woman, they had to make her look like someone who has incredible power and strength and whose presence is absolutely unquestionable. Simultaneously, she also had to look graceful and represent her Amazonian culture with her costume.
IGN added the Instagram post that “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” still photographer Clay Enos shared. The post basically is a new image of the Batman and it completely reflects Zack and costume designer Michael Wilkinson’s vision of the Dark Knight. “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” releases next year on March 25th.
