Next TV Projects for Golden Globes Hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
On Jan. 11, 2015, TV royalty and comedy’s dynamic duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will be hosting the Golden Globes awards show for a third time. It’s only the first of many other projects the two have lined up for the coming year. Find out what’s in store for these women in 2015 on television in the news story below.
Despite the end of their respective TV shows — “30 Rock” for Fey in 2013 and “Parks and Recreation” for Poehler, which will bow out of NBC in February 2015 — these two actresses and writers are still pretty much going to be active figures in television for the next year.
First up, Fey is co-writing and co-producing the Netflix show “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which will be launching on Netflix in March 2015. The comedy, which was originally supposed to air on NBC, stars Ellie Kemper as a former cult fanatic who is rebuilding her life in New York.
Fey is also attached as executive producer for a TV show created by writer Fortune Feimester, along with Matt Hubbard. The still-untitled series is set for ABC as a semi-autobiographical sitcom. The three have previously worked together on “Cabot College,” a pilot which isn’t actually moving forward on FOX as reported on MNG last August.
Poehler, on the other hand, will be working on a single-camera comedy series for NBC after the end of “Parks and Recreation.” According to Deadline, she will be helping out Aisha Muharrar, who will write the still-untitled series, as the show’s executive producer. The story’s concept involves a young woman who doesn’t believe in religion but eventually ends up inheriting a church. It will feature an ensemble cast of characters.
Poehler is also the executive producer of the Swedish-American TV show “Welcome to Sweden,” which is created and starred by her brother, Greg. The show will return for a second season on NBC, tentalively by the summer of 2015.
We will be following the developments and updates of these shows from Fey and Poehler regularly, so keep checking Movie News Guide (MNG) for the latest.
In the meantime, catch the two stars as they host the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 on NBC. MNG will be following the awards show for the announcement of winners, after-party tidbits and other Golden Globe related stories.
