Nicholas Hoult Says “X-Men: Apocalypse” Is His Last; Wants To Do More

As far as Nicholas Hoult knows, it’s going to be the last time he’ll take part in the “X-Men” franchise, particularly with the upcoming “X-Men: Apocalypse” movie. The actor, who plays Dr. Henry McCoy or his alter-ego Beast in the films, has expressed that his contract with the franchise is up. Read on for more.

The 25 year old star told E! during an interview at the SXSW event in Texas that he has only signed up for three installments of the “X-Men” movies. “X-Men Days of Future Past,” where he had his first outing as Beast was, according to him, “received so brilliantly” that he learned to love being in the films. He went on to play the same role in “X-Men: First Class” and finally, “X-Men: Apocalypse,” which is set to run in the summer of 2016.

And while Simon Kinberg, the screenwriter for this particular series of “X-men” has also confirmed that this final film will be the end of the First Class franchise, Hoult said that he is not opposed to making more. That is, if the studio has the same plans.

“The first one did so well and [Days of Future Past] got received so brilliantly. It’s like, ‘Wow, people really want to see the films’ and the best thing is it’s a great crew and cast to work with and he’s a fun character. I have a good time playing him so I’d keep making them,” said Hoult in the interview.

Set in the 1980s, the latest “X-men” will be directed by Bryan Singer and will follow the mutant superheroes who will battle against Apocalypse. This character first appeared towards the end credits of “Days of Past” and comic geeks may know him to be the very first mutant that ever existed. Apocalypse, apparently possesses god-like powers that make him invulnerable and Oscar Isaacs has been touted to play the role of this mega-villain.

Kinberg, however, also hinted that this final installment will focus on the story of the relationship Beast and Mystique, too. So, Hoult will pretty much figure as an important character to the last “X-men” movie.

Are you looking forward to seeing “X-Men: Apocalypse” and would you want Hoult to do more of this type of films?
