How Nicolas Cage Could Have Been Aragorn (And Neo. And Iron-Man)
Nicolas Cage, who is known best for supposedly saying yes to every script offered to him, turned down Peter Jackson. Cage revealed in a recent interview that he said no to playing Aragorn in “Lord of the Rings.”Read on for more details.
Regret, according to Cage, is a waste of time. We would feel the same way if we had as much to regret as he does. In an interview with News Week, Cage said Aragorn was offered to him and he said no, because of, “different things going on in my life at the time that precluded me from being able to travel and be away from home for three years.”
But Cage likes looking at the bright side of things, and he says he can truly enjoy these classic movies because he was not in them, as can the rest of us (as in, he does not watch the movies he is in).
This comes in the long list of bad career moves made by Nicolas Cage. He was supposedly offered the roles of ‘Neo’ in “the Matrix” because he did not want to go to Australia to film it. He was also offered the role of ‘Harry Dunne’ in “Dumb and Dumber. It was said that he left to LA, in spite to Jim Carrey specifically asking for him in the role
. In fact, if Cage had actually made it to half the movies he was supposed to be in, he would today be both Iron-Man and Superman. Even the most ardent fan will admit that that is too much Cage for the world (via Clipd)
The movie that Cage actually is in, is “Pay the Ghost” by German director Eli Udel, which has Cage trying to rescue his son from an ancient, supernatural conspiracy with trademark Nick Cage facial contortions.
“Pay the Ghost” is out in theaters right now.
