‘Nightcrawler’’s Riz Ahmed Joins The Cast Of Bourne 5
Riz Ahmed has a thing for movies with dark names. After starring opposite Jake Gyllenhaal in “Nightcrawler”, and opposite Rooney Mara in “Blackbird”, he has now joined the cast of the upcoming Bourne film: featuring Matt Damon the amnesiac superspy Jason Bourne. Read on for more details.
According to Tracking Board, Ahmed, who has appeared in movies like “Four Lions” and “the Reluctant Fundamentalist”, will be joining and all star ensemble cast for “Bourne 5” including Tommy Lee Jones, Alicia Vikander and Vincent Cassel. Julia Stiles is also returning to this installment of Bourne, and “Django Unchained”’s Ato Essandoh is joining the franchise.
Ahmed has already proved his acting chops with his multiple award nominated performance as ‘Rick’ in “Nightcrawler”, so it will be exciting what Bourne 5 has in store for the talented young actor.
According to lead Matt Damon, “Bourne 5” will explore espionage in a post-Snowden world, with Bourne having recovered his memory. In a recent quote the actor said:
“It’s Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.”
“Bourne 5″ will supposedly be set 12 years after the last Bourne film (starring Damon, that is) “the Bourne Ultimatum.” It will answer vital questions like where Bourne has been all this time, and what gets him back into the espionage game. Damon has mentioned that they were waiting for the world to change to make a new Bourne film, and now apparently, it has changed enough.
Cassel will be appearing as the villain in this installment of “Bourne,” playing some sort of assassin character. And of course the character will be French, because there are few things as French as Vincent Cassel.
Filming for Bourne 5 has already started in Budapest, and the movie will be released on July 29, 2016.
