One of the most anticipated beauty pageants worldwide Miss Universe was founded in 1952 by the California clothing company Pacific Mills. The pageant known as the Olympics of Beauty became part of Kayser-Roth, and then Gulf and Western Industries.  Donald Trump acquired the pageant in 1998 and changed its name from Miss Universe, Inc., to the Miss Universe Organization. Since then the pageant has gone through substantial transformation. It has drawn approximately one billion viewers during crowning of Miss Venezuela on Nov 9, 2013. The headquarters moved from Los Angeles, California, to New York City in 1998. Traditionally Miss Universe lives in New York City during her reign.Miss Universe is part of the Big Four international beauty pageants. The pageant is broadcast  in the USA on NBC 8/7c, simulcast in Spanish on Telemundo. Also  webcast on Xbox Live along with many international broadcasting channels. 


Donald Trump employed a new team of professionals headed by its new CEO, Molly Miles, and President Maureen Reidy has transformed the contest into new more lucrative and famous platform.  USA has won maximum number of titles (8). USA is followed by Venezuela with seven wins and Puerto Rico by winning five titles. 

First edition of the Miss Universe pageant was held in Long Beach, California, with 30 states and regions. Armi Kuusela of Finland crowned the Miss Universe in 1952.  The current Miss Universe is Gabriela Isler of Venezuela who was crowned on Nov. 9, 2013 in Moscow, Russia. Isler is the only titleholder to reign for two calendar years 2013 and 2014. Her successor will be chosen in Jan. 2015 will be proclaimed as Miss Universe 2014, however the 2015 edition will be held later in the year.
