Once Upon a Time Season 4 Recap: Smash the Mirror Parts 1 & 2

The latest episodes of “Once Upon a Time” Season 4 focused on the theories regarding the Snow Queen’s past. Read on for the full recap of Episodes 8 and 9 "Smash the Mirror Parts 1 & 2."

We finally learned about the deal Ingrid has made with the Sorcerer’s apprentice — she’s trading the Sorcerer’s hat in exchange for a third sister. However, he said no at first but gave in to the deal after a while because the Sorcerer doesn’t want the Sorcerer’s hat to be given to Rumple. This happened a long time ago, which means the third sister that’s right for her hasn’t been born that time: Emma.

Meanwhile, Robin and Regina just clearly can’t get enough of each other, but Regina’s belief that she can’t have a happy ending because she’s a villain was enough for her to stay away from Robin. However, Robin was determined to end up with Regina (which was really sweet by the way). Regina told him about the Storybook, and Robin set off with Will Scarlett to the library to get some answers. Until magically, a page from the Storybook got in his satchel that shows the night that him and Regina may have met in the pub, which only means that her future can still be changed.

Back to Ingrid, she’s trying to make Elsa believe that Anna betrayed her, but Elsa knew that her sister can’t do something like that to her so she freed her from the dungeon. They need to get the magical urn to trap Ingrid inside, and they searched for the castle together with Kristoff. They found the urn, and apparently, a frozen Hans and Anna went back to the dungeon to trap Ingrid. However, Ingrid was again, a step ahead of them when she trapped Anna instead in shackles and then cast the Spell of Shattered Sight on her. This made her turn on Elsa. However, Ingrid’s plan got ruined when Anna trapped Elsa inside the urn, and she got so mad that she froze the whole Arendelle.

Emma’s powers have been out of control, and for the safety of her family, she wants her powers removed. She went to Rumple for a solution, and of course, he was willing to help her for his own benefit. Rumple planned to trap her inside the Sorcerer’s hat because this will take away her powers. Luckily, Elsa came in time to save Emma. She told Emma that the only way to take control of her powers is that she learns to embrace it.

What they didn’t know was that Hook was also on his way to save Emma, but he got there late and only saw Rumple there. Rumple captured him instead because he’s still pushing through with his plans. Now that he can’t get Emma’s powers, he needs a heart, and that heart will be from Hook. He took Hook’s heart then we saw Hook claiming the Sorcerer’s hat.

Rumple has trapped Ingrid but only temporarily because Ingrid was able to escape, and she was able to bond her, Emma and Elsa together as sisters with the use of the yellow ribbons, which means that she can now cast the Spell of Shattered Sight in Storybrooke. Uh-oh.
