Orange is the New Black Season 2 Recap: Episodes 4-6
The first three episodes of “Orange is the New Black” Season 3 were such a roller coaster ride for Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling). However, we also saw flashbacks for Crazy Eyes (Uzo Aduba) and Taystee (Danielle Brooks), which give us a brand new perspective on their characters. Now, read on to learn more about Episodes 4 to 6.
“Orange is the New Black” Season 3 Episode 4 “A Whole Other Hole”
“A Whole Other Hole” started with Lorna Morello (Yael Stone) with some flashbacks why she got into prison as well as the truth behind her obsession in wedding planning. Her fiancé, Christopher, was never her fiancé. Instead, he was a real person, but all of that was just Lorna’s imagination in her pursuit to find her dream man.
Lorna was starting to recover from the news about Chris’ new fiancée. However, she was still in denial and even told Susan Fischer (Lauren Lapkus), the correctional officer, that the whole wedding planning had been paused. Fischer and Morello then drove two women with cancer to the hospital for their chemotherapy. Fischer told Morello to stay in the car and wait for three hours. However, of course, Morello was not the one to follow instructions right now especially in her state, so she thought about going to Chris’ house. She went in through the back door and was shocked to see engagement photos as well as wedding invitations. She wore the bride’s veil and jumped into the tub for a quick bubble bath, but she fell asleep.
Back in Litchfield, the inmates were discussing the female anatomy with Poussey telling them that she could urinate standing up, while Sophia (Laverne Cox) gave them a well-educated lesson about female parts. Things got dirty especially when Big Boo (Lee DeLaria) found Nicky’s (Natasha Lyonne) journal of “sexcapades.” Nicky then made a deal with Big Boo on who could have the most sex. Big Boo was up for it, so she chose Brooke Soso to have sex with, but Nicky ended up with her instead.
Vee (Lorraine Toussaint) caught Taystee cuddling with best friend Poussey (Samira Wiley), and she warned her to avoid such things. Meanwhile, Piper got moved to another bunk with Red. The two of them bonded, and Red even gave her some words of wisdom. Vee and Red (Kate Mulgrew), on the other hand, were rounding up their own followers to regain power.
Amid all of these, the focus of the episode was Morello’s life. Morello woke up in the tub as Chris came home, and she managed to get out of the house through the window and drove back to the hospital. Back in prison, Morello was crying and still obsessed that she’s going to marry Chris.
“Orange is the New Black” Season 3 Episode 5 “Low Self Esteem City”
A war between Gloria (Selenis Leyva) and Vee happened. Vee’s ladies stole their enemies’ shows, while Gloria’s group retaliated by spoiling their food because they were assigned in the kitchen. We saw Gloria’s past life regarding her pre-prison relationship with her boyfriend.
Later on, Gloria confronted Vee and told her to stop messing with her. Vee, the manipulative one, faked her way by getting all teary-eyed and told Gloria that she’s too old to fight and too weak to hold her group together. They made a deal: Gloria can have the working showers in exchange for allowing two of Vee’s girls start working in the kitchen. Red heard about this and stormed into the kitchen and told Gloria that Vee played her.
In other news, Nicky and Big Boo’s sex contest continued. Piper also learned that her grandmother was very ill, and she asked Sam Healy (Michael Harley) if she could say goodbye to her grandmother. He said no at first but got a change of heart and told Piper that he will try to make it happen. Piper then called her ex, Larry, and Larry told her how much he misses her.
We also found out that Gloria’s boyfriend died in a fire when he stole the wooden box of money and forgot his keys on the counter. Her boyfriend accidentally knocked over a lit candle, which set the whole place on fire and him left stuck inside.
“Orange is the New Black” Season 3 Episode 6 “You Also Have a Pizza”
It’s Valentine’s Day at Litchfield, and the inmates had their own perspective when it comes to love. This episode showed us various flashbacks that revolved around different kinds of pain.
We saw Poussey’s life in Germany, where she fell in love with a woman. However, their love story was cut short when they were caught by her girlfriend’s military dad who’s homophobic, which led to the reassignment of Poussey’s family back to America. Poussey tried to reason out with him, but he almost shoot her, and she almost took out her gun to shoot him as well. Luckily, her own father intervened.
Vee continued to try to break Poussey and Taystee apart, and it worked when the two started yelling at each other at the Valentine’s Day party, and Poussey became an outsider in Vee’s group.
Larry (Jason Biggs) came to visit Piper, asking for help as a journalist to expose the prison’s misuse of funds. However, Piper didn’t want to cooperate. Then again, she had second thoughts and started investigating where the money was going.
