Our Top 10 Favorites from the Biggest Songs of 2014 [WATCH VIDEO]

If you’re a music buff, you’ve probably picked your top choice among the many singles and albums from your favorite artists this year.

From Billboard’s Hot 100, here are our 10 most favorite tunes of 2014, and some interesting stories that come with them:

  • “Don’t” by Ed Sheeran – incidentally, the English singer-songwriter removed the word “fuck” from the lyrics because one of his fans, a taxi driver, didn’t want his impressionable young daughter to listen to expletive-filled music. Considerate of you, Ed.
  • “Black Widow” by Iggy Azalea and Rita Ora – and wouldn’t you know it, that particular piece of music was penned by Katy Perry. Don’t you just love a collaboration of strong females?
  • “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj – this one broke the record for the most views in Vevo in one single day! In 24 hours, her music video was viewed 19.6 million times. Does this mean the trend on big boobies and booties is here to stay? Speaking of booty…
  • “Booty” by Jennifer Lopez – Pitbull was supposed to be featured on the album but was replaced by Iggy Azalea instead. Wonder why?
  • “The Heart Wants What It Wants” by Selena Gomez – apparently, conflicted Selena filmed the music video for her single a full year before it was released. Can’t she ever make up her mind about Justin Bieber?
  • “Blank Space” by Taylor Swift – Taylor replaced her own “Shake It Off” on the top spot of the Billboard Hot 100 with this single.
  • “Hideaway” by Kiesza – the singer broke a rib during the music video shoot. Ah, the pain we go through for our art.
  • “Chandelier” by Sia – this piece is all about the singer’s struggle with alcoholism. Talking about coping mechanisms — this one is pretty neat.
  • “Sun Daze” by Florida Georgia Line – the lyrics about petting a Harley aren’t dirty. Tyler Hubbard just happens to own a golden retriever with the same name.
  • “I Wanna Get Better” by the Bleachers – the lyrics were written by frontman, Jack Antonoff’s girlfriend, Lena Dunham. Way to go!
