‘Pacific Rim 2’ Movie Update: Production Of Film Reportedly Delayed?
Guillermo del Toro’s massive mechanical machine saga, “Pacific Rim 2,” also known as “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom,” seems to have suffered yet another setback. The film which was already delayed earlier, may have just been delayed yet again due to some unknown reasons. Read to know more details.
According to Latino Review, the fans of vicious creatures from another dimension known as Kaiju may have to wait a while longer. Apparently, a few of their industry sources have informed that the film is being postponed.
They have reached out to Legendary Pictures, though there is no official response from them for the reason behind the delay. The film was earlier slated to release on August 4, 2017 but now, there is no official release date. Although, there are speculations that it would be a safe bet that Legendary Pictures would be looking for new dimension to go into.
In November, Cinema Blend reported that the filming of “Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” was scheduled to start in Toronto later this year. That, however, has changed as the date for the production is pushed all the way back to 2016.
“Pacific Rim” was released in 2013. The film made $411 million worldwide against a budget of $190 million. However, it took a lot of time for the film to get there, and it was not well received by the domestic crowd. According to Movie Pilot, before the release of “Pacific Rim,” Guillermo del Toro said that he wants to make it in two parts. Although, there was no official confirmation on it until November 2014.
“Pacific Rim: Maelstrom” is still scheduled for August 2017 release, but it could change as at present, Guillermo del Toro is busy in promoting his Gothic horror movie “Crimson Peak,” which is going to release on October 16.
