Paul Rudd: I took the Chris Pratt Approach for ‘Ant-Man’
Fans seemed to be a bit skeptical when Paul Rudd was cast in the lead role for “Ant-Man.” Known for playing comic roles in “Anchorman,” “This is 40,” and “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” it did come as a surprise that the comic actor was now going to be a full-time superhero. However after watching Rudd in the “Ant-Man” promos, everyone looks more then convinced that it is going to be yet another great movie from Marvel and one can’t help but notice Paul Rudd’s chiseled body which indicates that he has clearly put some hard work for it. According to Variety, Rudd himself understood that some fans might be skeptical about him playing one of the most favorite superheroes who shrinks in size but increases in strength. He also joked about people’s reactions on him being cast in the superhero role since most of his career comprises of comedy roles and he understood it. He is also said to have contributed to the screenplay by incorporating some jokes with Michael Pena.
On his picture perfect body Rudd said, that he took his “Parks and Recreation” co-star Chris Pratt’s advice to bulk up and get in shape to play the superhero. He also added using the Pratt approach in order to train for the movie. Pratt’s approach, which according to Rudd, is when you give up anything which is fun for a year and then you can play a hero. The actor is said to have stayed away from fried foods, alcohol and carbs for about a year and was also doing heavy iworkouts.
n an interview with People Magazine, Rudd also revealed that there was a time when he had to find time for his workouts, but that wasn’t the case this time around because his day used to be centered around his workouts. On his workouts, he added that it included a lot of flips and rolls amongst other stuff that caused him physical exertion but to be honest it also gave him one of the best superhero bodies.
