People’s Choice Awards: Betty White Gets Help from Captain America [WATCH VIDEO]

Betty White received her award for TV Icon at the age of 93. “The Hot in Cleveland” star at age 93 needed a little help getting up to the stage. But the help was absolutely remarkable. Read on for further details of this story.

The man who offered an arm to White was none other, 33-year-old actor Chris Evans (Captain America himself). Evans turned real-life superhero for Betty White at Wednesday night’s People’s Choice Awards. Evans won a People’s Choice for Favorite Action Movie Actor.

The American actress, singer, author, producer, radio host and television personality received a standing ovation from the crowd at Wednesday’s People’s Choice Awards ceremony as she accepted her award for TV Icon.

In thanking her fans, “The Hot in Cleveland” star cited Melissa McCarthy’s earlier acceptance speech for Comedic Movie Actress. The legendary actress was dressed in a bright green jacket over a black top. She seemed beyond doubt flattered on getting the award and help from Evans.

“Oh my goodness,” said The Illinois native once on stage. “When Melissa McCarthy [won the award for favorite comedic movie actress], she said she’d stay with us as long as you’d let her. Well, you abused the privilege with me. Can you imagine – the people’s choice? At 93? I mean, that’s ridiculous! Oh, thank you with all my heart. Thank you,” said White.

She  is also noted for being the first woman to produce a sitcom. She received the honorary title as the Mayor of Hollywood in 1955 for that. Due to her groundbreaking career and her acting legacy, the American Comedy Awards, the Screen Actors Guild, the Television Critics Association and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts have all awarded White with lifetime achievement awards.

Ellen DeGeneres presented her with the award. DeGeneres won the award for favorite TV show host st the show. The Guinness World Records awarded White with having the longest television career for a female entertainer in 2013. In a profession that has spanned more than seven decades, White has received three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild awards, four Golden Globes nominations, a BAFTA, a Grammy and 23 Emmy nominations with six wins. Her comedy “Hot in Cleveland” is at present in its sixth and final season.

White’s name was trending on social media since then.
