Read on to learn more about this episode.

The episode opened at an illegal card den. John Reese (Jim Caviezel) kept tabs on  Florida. She then was brought to the back as she had spilled a drink on her new boss, Ray Pratt. When John got there, he discovered that she was trying to kidnap him. Because of him, Ray escaped, and Frankie stole his badge.

Before Harold Finch (Michael Emerson), went to meet Beth Bridges (Jessica Hecht), who he met at a conference, and whose computer he installed something on, briefly saw Root (Amy Acker) at their subway headquarters.

At the café, Beth told him that her angel investor, who was, in reality, Samaritan, had called her and her predictive algorithm was going to go live in a few days, and that it would be placed in their system. Finch then invited her to dinner to celebrate. Later, he realized that Beth was in trouble. Her number had just come up the minute he met up with her. He then asked Root for help, who agreed to do so.

At the precinct, John was surprised that Dr. Iris Campbell (Wrenn Schmidt) had decided to refer him to another psychologist. Thanks to the addresses he found on Frankie’s phone, which she had dropped, he traced her to a bar where she asked for a woman named Athena, who was Ray’s forger. Ray then appeared, and the two chased him out, only for him to be picked up by Athena, who in reality was Harper Rose (Annie Ilonzeh).

Back at the precinct they discovered that Ray had been under a casino mogul named Mr. Worthy in Florida. She had to get him back by Wednesday or she owed the court $ 1 Million.

Meanwhile, Finch told Root that Beth was in business with Samaritan. He became worried after a man came and started to harass her. However, Root spied on them for him and learned that the man had left soon after.

Later that night, while supposedly tailing Harper. It turned out wasn’t in the car that they were tailing, they were kidnapped and handcuffed together by Mr. Worthy and his men. He wanted to find Ray who had stolen $100,000 from him. Frankie then refused to give him the lead that she had on Ray, and managed to free her. Reese from the cabinet they were cuffed to, and fought off Worthy’s goons. However, Frankie cuffed Reese to the door as she had to take care of Ray herself.

Later, Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) discovered that Ray was hiding out at his uncle’s abandoned warehouse, and discovered that Ray had murdered an accountant, for which he was arrested. Reese then realized that Frankie was out for revenge as the accountant who had been killed was her brother.

At the warehouse, he stopped Frankie from killing Ray, but he took Harper hostage instead. They were then interrupted by Worthy and his men. Because of this, Harper brokered a deal- Worthy would get the thumb drive with evidence against him, care of Ray. Reese would arrest Ray. However, after Worthy left, Reese shot Ray who tried to shoot Harper. Afterwards, she revealed that she had the real thumb drive. He told Reese that after they had helped her out, he started getting jobs via encrypted texts from Thornhill, an alias of The Machine.

Back at the precinct, Reese was informed that Worthy had been arrested. Iris revealed that she had referred him to someone else as she had feelings for him. John then reciprocated her feelings, and they kissed.

The next day, Root and Finch watched as the man, Beth’s ex-husband, gave up and left for the airport. While they watched, Finch told Root that he had installed a Trojan horse inside her laptop. It would be activated by his device, which would allow them, for one time only, to get some data and code from Samaritan which could be used against it. Root then told him that she was safe and that he could leave.

However, as he followed Root, he discovered that she was going to kill Beth with poison as it would endanger his cover. After revealing that she was going against the Machine, Finch decided to take the poison. It only relented after she promised not to kill Beth. However, his date didn’t push through as Root had not only destroyed his device, but had forged a letter that discredited Beth’s work. Afterwards, she told him that she valued his life over The Machine’s plan. She couldn’t lose him too. Finch, who understood what she had done, then told her that he didn’t want to see her for a while.
