“Person of Interest” Season 4 Episode 22 “YHWH” aired last Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:00 p.m. on CBS. In the season finale, Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) and Root (Amy Acker) raced against time to save The Machine from Samaritan, while John Reese (Jim Caviezel) and Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) tried to escape from Dominic’s (Winston Duke) grip. Meanwhile, Control (Camryn Manheim) discovered the horrible true nature of “The Correction”. Read on to learn more about this episode.
At the subway station, Root (Amy Acker) and Harold Finch (Michael Emerson) realized that the power surges were caused by Samaritan in order to starve The Machine. They then received a distress call from The Machine, who instructed them to open the case and leave, as she was dying.
Meanwhile, Dominic (Winston Duke) threatened to kill Detective Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman) as John Reese (Jim Caviezel) wouldn’t put him in touch with Finch. However, they discovered that Fusco was gone as Harper Rose (Annie Ilonzeh), had set him free. However, they managed to capture Harper.
Meanwhile, in Washington DC, Control (Camryn Manheim) that she had supposedly ordered a quarantine at a particular address.
Meanwhile, The Machine helped Root and Finch get some night vision glasses from a penthouse in a building. They then broke into Caleb Phipps (Luke Kleintank) office who, after seeing his old professor, gave Finch the RAM chips and compression algorithm he needed. As they went on their way, Dominic called Finch up using Reese’s phone and demanded to meet him in fifteen minutes. However, Root talked him out of helping Reese as The Machine would take care of him. Sure enough, The Machine sent some instructions via fax machine, and used Reese’s earpiece to get him out. Fusco then came in with back up who arrested both Carl Elias (Enrico Colantoni) and Dominic, and rode with them out as they were being transported. Root, after buying some ice, then stole an NYPD Traffic Patrol car.
Back in Washington DC, Control and Devon Grice (Nick E. Tarabay) went to the address being quarantined where they found some old blue prints and a bomb, with several others missing. She then called in Senator Ross Garrison (John Doman) and managed to stall him long enough to clone his phone, after he refused to pull down the Samaritan feeds.
Thanks to The Machine, Harold and Root managed to make it to an address in Brooklyn, where they met up with Reese. Root and Reese then fended off Samaritan’s agents while Finch got them inside.
Elsewhere, Elias informed them that he wouldn’t be going to prison, just as a truck smashed into them.
Back in Washinton DC, Control lured John Greer (John Nolan) into headquarters, and discovered that the target was the Supreme Court, and sent Grice to evacuate everyone. However, she discovered that the Courts weren’t the targets, those who were outliers and deviants were the targets, such as Grice and her, as Samaritan’s correction involved getting rid of those who would disrupt the peace, or its new world. Control was then taken away.
Meanwhile, while Root arranged the RAM chips in the briefcase, Finch realized that The Machine had downloaded itself into the electrical grid, as every electrical post was outfitted with a box from Thornhill Utilities. The Machine’s last ditch attempt for survival required them to connect to the system, as they were in an electrical substation. Once the voltage was put to its highest level, data would then be transferred to the laptops all connected together, which would compress The Machine down to its core code which would then be stored in the RAM chips. However, Reese noticed that an entire army of Samaritan agents had arrived. Root then stayed inside to fight off the others, while Reese had The Machine kill the lights, and trusted The Machine to guide him as he fought off the army at their front door.
Elias was then rescued by one of his men, who was gunned down by Dominic, who was told to lower his weapon by Fusco. However, Dominic was gunned down by Samaritan’s sniper, and Elias was shot as well.
Meanwhile, The Machine told Finch that it was ready to die as she had failed, and apologized to him, but Finch told her not to die. They then managed to store enough to rebuild her in the briefcase. They then went outside, where they discovered that Reese was still alive. Together, Root and Reese cleared a path for Finch and his creation- The Machine.
