What would you do if everything around you, including you, turned into pixels? Well, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced of its release of a new movie about classic arcade games character attacking Earth and turning everything into, unfortunately, Pixels. And only this group of 80’s arcade champions can save the day. “Pixels” is an upcoming action-comedy of Sony, which hits July 24, 2015. Read on for more details.

If Disney has done it with “Wreck-It Ralph”, now Sony has it “Pixels.” In the movie, Peter Dinklage, Josh Gad, Michelle Monaghan and Adam Sandler are pushed to defend humanity when aliens sent gigantic pixelated versions of classic arcade games (Donkey Kong, Centipede and Pac-Man) to destroy the world.

The film synopsis explains that the 1982 video games were sent into space inside a time capsule. However, aliens misinterpreted it as declaration of war, so they sent the characters of the games as models for their assaults. The US President (Kevin James) then called for the help of his childhood best friend (Adam Sandler). He need him to lead the pack of all-star gamers to save humanity, which includes Dinklage and Gad, former arcade game opponents of Sandler. Also starring, as a military weapon developer, is Michelle Monaghan.

The movie is from a 2010 short film of the same title by Patrick Jean and was produced by One More Production.

“Pixels” is directed by Chris Columbus, and written by Timothy Dowling and Tim Herlihy. The film is produced by Happy Madison’s Adam Sandler and Allen Covert together with 1492 Pictures Mark Radcliffe, Michael Bamathan and Chris Columbus.

“Pixel” opens July 24, 2015 in US Cinemas.
