The episode began with a flashback to the Sanction Lounge in 1994, where a young Johnny Royale (Sasha Feldman) showed off his teleportation skills while Christian Walker (Sterling Beaumon) stared at Retro Girl (Michelle Forbes). However, before he could gather the courage to ask her out, Wolfe (Eddie Izzard) came in, which meant that they had to take their place at his side. After Wolfe gave a small anecdote, and he noticed that Christian was looking at Retro Girl, whom he liked because she was a hero, which was what he had wanted to be. He then drank another shot, and decided to make a move.
Back in the present day, at the Federal Powers Containment Facility, or the Shaft, Wolfe told Detective Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) that he remembered that he was the one who had put him in the Shaft. He then pushed him away and ate the power inside the cell. He then told Christian that he had “refused to believe that there are no heroes”. Christian then told him that he was a cop, and shot him twice, but Wolfe, who had become more powerful, flung him aside. Christian then cornered him, and as he did so, both of their eyes glowed red, and he saw himself in a field, standing in front of a boy Wolfe.
Meanwhile, Calista Secor (Olesya Rulin) crept into Krispin Stockley’s (Max Fowler) room, who was watching the news. He then told her that he didn’t have a high opinion of those who had powers, and that he knew it first hand as his mother was a Powers publicist.
At a military base, Retro Girl got an update about the situation at the shaft, but stubbornly refused to stop rescuing people from the Level 5 hurricane that had just landed.
In front of the Shaft, Zora (Logan Browning), dressed up in her suit, decided to wait with other Powers Kids for the signal to go in and help.
Inside the Shaft, as Christian cornered Wolfe, he remembered entering the Sanction Lounge only to find a young Royale looking dumbfounded and Wolfe sitting in the middle of a pool of blood. Wolfe then told him that he didn’t want to continue being like that, and Christian realized that he and Royale could now become heroes by capturing him.
Back in the present day, Christian told him that he wanted his powers back, and as he gripped him even more tightly, several rounds of power seemingly transferred into Christian. However, they were interrupted by Triphammer (Andrew Sensinig), who was easily defeated by Wolfe. He then wondered why Johnny Royale (Noah Taylor) who had visited him so many times hadn’t freed him. Christian then came at him and demanded his powers back, but Wolfe said that he had used them all up. He then gripped him tightly again, and rings of power transferred again to Christian. However, they were interrupted by Zora, who managed to fend of Wolfe for a while, before he flung both Christian and Zora away. Then, just as he was about to feed on Zora, Retro Girl came, and stopped him. She then fought him, but was overpowered, and Zora, who had managed to wake up in time, flung Wolfe away from them both. However, Wolfe easily recovered and flung them both aside.
Christian then tackled Wolfe to the ground, and gripped him. As he did so, his powers came back into him, and just like what happened during the massacre, he flew and flung Wolfe into his cell, right underneath the drainer. However, as Wolfe’s power drained out of him, so did Christian’s. Royale then came out, closed Wolfe’s cell door, and disappeared.
The next morning, it was known that Zora said that she had knocked Wolfe out, which is what everyone, including Christian and Retro Girl believed.
Krispin then told Calista his plan to make a statement against those with Powers and kissed her.
At the club, Royale instructed Simons (Aaron Farb) to get Sway off of the streets and to get the name of everyone who had used it.
Meanwhile, Retro Girl cried to Christian, and told him that she was actually really tired. He then reassured her that she could rest while he protected her, and remembered their first dance together. However, as they slept side by side, Christian’s eyes fluttered to reveal that the red glow in his eyes, which had gotten drained out when he took his powers back briefly from Wolfe, was still there.
