Bobby Gillespie and Andrew Innes of Primal Scream issued a statement shortly after Young’s demise.
The statement reads: “We have lost our comrade and brother Robert Young. A beautiful and deeply soulful man. He was an irreplaceable talent, much admired amongst his peers.”
“Throb with a gold top Les Paul – unbeatable” He was a true rock and roller. He walked the walk. He had “Heart & Soul” tattooed on his arm and i’m sure on his heart too. He once said to me “when we go onstage it’s a war between us and the audience.” He never let go of that attitude,” said Johnny Marr about late Young.
To deal with tribulations in his personal life In 2006 Robert left Primal Scream. Young met front man Bobby Gillespie at secondary school in Glasgow. They formed the ground-breaking unconventional band in 1984. The band pulled off critical acclaim with the classic album entitled “Screamadelica,” in 1991 the winner of the first ever Mercury Prize.
Fans discussed Young on a thread on the band’s message board. Young was previously reported working on an LP album alongside former Primal Scream bandmate Martin Duffy. It was said that the album would be released under Burgess’ label.
One member named scottprmscrm, stated that he had seen Young a few days before Aug. 17, 2014 and he gave the impression that he is in “good spirits.”
“I bumped into Throb the other day I knew Duffy lived down here in Hove but no idea Throb did too.” I had seen a couple of times previously but hadn’t recognized him as he always had shades on until it was pointed out to me who he was. “He is so much smaller in real life, had a quick chat seems in good spirits looked well when I mentioned Duffy he told me he was releasing a lp on [Tim] bugess’s label and then told me he was working with Duffy on a project. “I didn’t want to ask to much so left it at that the good thing is he looked well.” wrote the member scottprmscrm on the Primal Scream message board
May his soul rest in peace! Our prayers and thoughts are with his family and friends.
