Prince George Turns One
Has it been a year? Prince George, the adorable first born son of Prince William and Princess Catherine, turned a year older on July 22, 2014. His proud parents released official photos in honor of the future king of England. Read on to know more about this story.
The site of the pictorial for Prince George’s first birthday commemoration was set at the Natural History Museum, during its “Sensational Butterflies” exhibit last July 2, 2014. Press Association staff photographer John Stillwell was enlisted for the photos, which showed the curious prince with his dotting parents in their candid and unguarded moments, as the young family marveled at the butterflies. One of the photographs had the royals sitting on a bench, with Prince George on the lap of his mother, while Prince William held a butterfly on his hand for his son to touch. The photographer said that the young prince looked confident and determined.
The royal couple reportedly chose the site for the pictorial as Kate Middleton is a patron of the National History Museum. The pictorial is part of the many celebrations the prince’s parents had planned for young George. The couple also held a children’s party in his honor at the Kensington Palace, with both the Middleton and royal families in attendance, according to People Magazine. The report also stated that Queen Elizabeth was at the party for about 50 minutes.
“We would like to take this opportunity on George’s first birthday to thank everyone over the last year, wherever we have met them, both at home and overseas, for their warm and generous good wishes to George and our family,” said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in a statement published on BBC.
