‘Prometheus 2’ Gets Priority Over Neill Blomkamp’s ‘Alien 5’ Movie

Fans who are eagerly waiting for ‘Alien 5’ might just have to wait a bit longer. Though the director, Neill Blomkamp had shed a lot of sweat to release the flick this year, but courtesy producer Ridley Scott said that fans will have to wait until 2018 or more. Read on to get the complete scoop.

“Alien 5” is being produced by Ridley Scott, who also happens to be the producer and director of “Prometheus 2.”

Ridley has been the know-it-all of alien-based movies. He has prioritized “Prometheus 2” over “Alien 5” and has chosen to wrap it up first.

In case you are worried about “Alien 5” being struck out altogether, there is some assurance for you. Blastr reported that a source said, “Alien 5″ is still very much in the works, as Fox remains hot on the idea. … Ridley Scott is still producing, but has insisted on “Prometheus 2” being made first.”

On practical fronts, Ridley might seem to be reasonable enough in setting apart the release of his two flicks. He is trying to avoid the competition of his films against each other.

This delay in the filming of the “Alien” sequel has proved to be a blessing in disguise for actress actress Sigourney Weaver. Since she would be busy with James Cameron’s “Avatar” sequel, the postponement would do her some good.

The plot of “Alien 5” is still in the blur, but Blomkamp announced that he will be creating what would feel like the literal “genetic sibling of the Aliens. So it’s Alien, Aliens and then this movie.”

According to the current plans of the franchise, “Prometheus 2” will be filmed next year, and will hit the theaters in 2017, while Blomkamp will follow by shooting “Alien 5” in 2017 and releasing it in 2018.
