Prosecutors Dismiss Charges of Sexual Assault Against Bill Cosby
The veteran comedian, Bill Cosby, is finally cleared from the accusation that he molested a teenager on 1974.
US prosecutors cited the limitations regarding the length of time when the legal action can be taken after the alleged crime was committed. According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, her lawsuit was declined because the incident happened 20 years ago, and it is already “expired” based on written law.
The accusation of Judy Huth was Cosby sexually assaulted her when she was 15 years old. She is just one of at least 15 women who accused Cosby of sexual assault since November. Most of them alleged that Cosby drugged them before molesting them.
Huth claimed that Cosby forced her to have sex with him at the Playboy Mansion in Los Angeles. She said the crime traumatized her and led to big problems in her life. She said she had no communication with Cosby after the 1974 incident.
Martin Singer, Cosby’s lawyer, stated in papers filed in LA Superior Court last Dec. 3, 2014 that Huth’s claims “are absolutely false,” and she did not give enough facts to prove that Cosby sexually assaulted her. She also failed to submit a certificate of merit to prove she experienced “mental anguish.”
After the dismissal of her lawsuit, Huth was accused of trying to get $250,000 from the actor that made her file a case against him. Another accusation was she tried to sell her story to a tabloid 10 years ago.
The lawyers of Cosby denied most allegations while dismissing others that are too old for a 2014 case.
Cosby’s wife, Camille, defended her husband and assured that her “wonderful husband” would never do such a thing. “He is the man you thought you knew,” she said.
Being married to the comedian for 50 years, Camille said she still loved her husband. She criticized the media of portraying Cosby far from his real personality.
The issue harmed Cosby’s career even though he was not confirmed as a criminal. His tour and several TV projects were cancelled.
