‘Puss In Boots 2’ Movie: Antonio Banderas Teases Shrek To Co-Star 2018 Release
“Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves” had already been announced last year, but the popularity of both Marvel and DC movies has forced DreamWorks to push back its release along with that of “The Croods 2.” Although the movie has been pushed back and given a release date of December 31, 2018, a number of rumors have already surfaced online including one that involves Antonio Banderas, who lends his voice the titular Puss in Boots, hinting that Shrek may possibly make a cameo appearance in the film.
In an episode of the Empire Podcast, Banderas stated, “I heard some rumors that Shrek may be coming back in “Puss in Boots 2” movie. That would be great. Shrek doing a cameo in my movie. Uh-huh! I would like that.”
Fans of the series may find this news particularly enticing since they last saw the Mike Myers voiced, green ogre in “Shrek Forever After” back in 2010.
After his debut in “Shrek 2” back in 2004, “Puss in Boots” became an instant fan favorite and has since had his own self-titled spin-off film, which premiered in 2011. In addition to that, the “Puss in Boots TV” series on Netflix premiered this 2015. Banderas announced that the “Puss in Boots 2” movie was in the works during interviews for “The Expendables 3,” in which he stars.
According to the film’s executive producer Guillermo del Toro, who also provided the voices for Comandante and Moustache Man in the previous film, “Puss in Boots 2: Nine Lives and 40 Thieves” will be set in the same universe as the Shrek series, but will feature new, exotic locations with a more Western theme.
