Rapper DMX Arrested For Not Paying Child Support
Rapper DMX had been arrested for multiple charges including one for failure to pay child support just as he was getting ready to perform at Radio City Music Hall in New York. His appearance had to be cancelled because he was arrested. Fans reported that DMX was missing in the concert, which also featured appearances by Mase, Rakim, Shabba Ranks, Pete Rock, the Lox and others.
A spokesman for the New York City Sheriff’s Department said that the 44-year-old rapper was taken into custody on Friday for several “issues outstanding.” He said that the charges included non-payment of child support worth $400,000, a warrant issued for bail jumping in the city of White Plains, and a warrant for robbery complaint out of Newark, New Jersey. No charges have been filed in the Newark Jersey case. The Fox News reported on the issues on Friday. The Rolling Stone magazine has since reported that the rapper has been released on bail.
The “Who We Be” rapper’s real name is Earl Simmons. He has been rapping since 1999 when he had a big hit when the song “Party Up” was released. He has acted in many action movies such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave, Exit Wounds, and Last Hour. He has unfortunately had many legal issues and many arrests in the past. He has even been convicted for possession of marijuana. He was to perform as a Master of Ceremony at the Radio City Music Hall on Friday when he had a run in with bad luck. Fans were relieved to know that the bail was granted almost immediately and one of the charges wasn’t filed.
Associated Press tried to get information from the rapper’s PR firm but the firm has refused to comment so far. The management company that represented DMX did not reply to the email seeking comment from The Associated Press. It is however clear that the bail has been posted.
