Reese Witherspoon To Star in a “Barbie” Movie
Reese Witherspoon will be starring in a movie about the story of the making of the Barbie doll. The actress will partner with Bruna Papandrea of the Pacific Standard Banner to produce the movie. The film will likely be made in partnership with Bold Films, who are planning to finance the venture.
The movie will likely be based on the book, “Barbie and Ruth: the Story of the World’s Most Famous Doll and the Woman who Created Her.” The book will focus on Ruth Handler, who created the Barbie Doll. She was supposedly inspired to create the Barbie Doll after she saw her little daughter Barbara playing with her paper dolls.
Her daughter was playing with dolls that were modeled after infants and Ruth were challenged to give her daughter a better model. It was a model designed after a grown up “woman with choices.” She took an adult novelty toy from abroad and dressed it to make a children’s toy. Her husband’s company Mattel introduced the new toy to the world.
Yahoo reports that Bold Films’ chairperson, Michel Litvak, thinks that the story will inspire women. “Ruth Handler’s inspiring true story reveals the triumphs and struggles of the genius businesswoman behind the creation of Barbie, the most iconic doll in the world,” he told the press.
Witherspoon and Papandrea have collaborated on several other projects before. They have produced such notable movies as “Gone Girl” and “Wild” before. Both the movies got rave reviews from the critics.
Reese Witherspoon will also likely star in the movie. She has already done similar roles before. The “Legally Blonde” series comes to the mind here. She was exceptionally good in the first movie. We hope that this new movie is just as good as her other movies. We know that fans will be waiting to hear more on this piece of news.
