Richard Sherman’s Girlfriend Gives Birth to Their First Boy Under a Lucky Number

The year may not have started off pretty good for the Seattle Seahawks, but one of them surely got something to be happy about just a few days after their loss in the Super Bowl. Let’s give a round of applause to Richard Sherman for the arrival of his baby boy!

On Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, the proud father took to Twitter to announce the birth of his first child with his girlfriend Ashley Moss.

As it turns out, Sherman’s boy was born under his father’s lucky number, with his birth date at 2/5 and his father’s jersey number of 25! Seems the number 25 is a good number for this happy family.

Friends, teammates and fans took to social media their congratulations to the couple. In his congratulatory tweet, Peter King of the column Monday Morning Quarterback (MMQB) revealed that baby Sherman’s name is Rayden.

Seahawks teammate Russell Wilson also tweeted his congratulations and even offered his babysitting services should the couple need it.

With this, Sherman tweeted back:

Days prior to the Super Bowl, there was concern as to whether Sherman would get to play due to his girlfriend nearing her supposed due date of Feb. 9, 2015, and the possibility of her giving birth early. “I think he’s going to be a disciplined young man and stay in there until after the game. He’s going to do his father his first favor and stay in there for another week or two,” Sherman said in an interview with Fox Sports.

With regard to the possibility of Moss going in labor during the game, Sherman said that he wouldn’t want to miss his son’s birth, especially since he will be his first child. Yet, he hoped that such a situation would not happen. Fortunately for him, he didn’t have to worry at all. Cheers for the happy family!
